The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially released the notification for its 2026 National President election. The nomination process is scheduled for 19th January, from 2 PM to 4 PM, during which candidates can submit their nomination papers. The official announcement of the new President will follow on 20th January.
Dr. K. Lakshman, the Returning Officer, has shared the complete schedule for the party’s National President election, which has been designated as “Sangathan Parv 2024.” Currently, Nitin Nabin serves as the Acting President, and it is widely anticipated that he may officially take over as the party’s National President following this process.
Official Announcement and Electoral Roll
The BJP stated that Sangathan Parv 2024 is progressing toward its key milestones. Alongside the notification, the electoral roll for the National President election has also been published at the party headquarters.

Nomination Process Details
The nomination period will run on 19th January from 2 PM to 4 PM, during which candidates can submit their papers. Verification of nominations will take place between 4 PM and 5 PM, and candidates may withdraw their nominations between 5 PM and 6 PM.
Voter Base and Electoral College
At 6:30 PM, the National Election Officer will issue an official statement. If required, the election will be conducted on 20th January. The electoral college for this election comprises 5,708 voters from 30 states, representing the party at various organizational levels.
Challenges for the New President
The incoming BJP National President will face significant responsibilities. The party is set to contest elections in four states and one Union Territory soon, including West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry, with Assam being the only state where the BJP currently holds power.
Looking ahead to the next year, elections are expected in Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Punjab, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Gujarat. Among these, the BJP is in power in four states, while Manipur is under President’s Rule, and Himachal Pradesh and Punjab are governed by the Congress and AAP, respectively.
