CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the State Government is ensuring all possible help to the general public through extensive relief and rescue operations in the flood affected areas.
Basic services and facilities are being streamlined at a rapid pace, giving top priority to citizen safety. CM Bhajan specifically directed to approve proposals for repair of roads, canals, anicuts and buildings in the rain-affected areas within three days. He also directed to start the work of these approved proposals by 23rd September and to get the report of damaged pucca and kutcha houses in 2 days and issue immediate approval. He said that proposals of damaged roads and buildings should also be sent to the Gram Panchayats at the earliest.
Sharma was chairing a high-level review meeting on the situation in the rain-affected areas with the district in-charge ministers and district in-charge secretaries at the Chief Minister’s Office on Monday. The Chief Minister issued the guidelines on the basis of detailed feedback on the ground situation and relief and rescue operations by the ministers who returned after visiting the rain-affected areas from September 5 to 7. The Chief Minister said that the officials should provide assistance with promptness in case of loss of life and property with sensitivity. Concrete steps should be taken to ensure uninterrupted and regular delivery of essential services including medical services, availability of food items and rehabilitation. He directed to take special precautions in low-lying areas and waterlogged areas. The Chief Minister said that the in-charge Minister and the Secretary should also regularly monitor the dams by establishing constant contact with the District Collectors and ensure the release of water by opening the gates on time.
A 6-member committee will be formed for quick assistance on crop loss.
The Chief Minister said that the state government stands firmly with the farmers on the crop loss due to excessive rains. He directed the officials to ensure financial assistance without any delay in case of crop loss of more than 33 per cent. Also, in places where there is a problem in doing girdawari through the app, the location should be disabled. The Chief Minister also suggested the formation of a committee of Ministers and Secretaries (6 members) of Agriculture, Revenue and Cooperation Department to work exclusively on proper and timely assistance to the farmers for crop loss. Also, this committee should form an advisory as well as establish coordination between the insurance company and the farmers. He said that such a system should be developed in the state so that water is distributed equally in all the areas. A system of recharging water through tubewells should also be developed. He laid special emphasis on raising the height of dams as per requirement and construction of anicuts.
More than 10 thousand works approved, 1159 people rescued safely –
Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary Bhaskar Atmaram Sawant gave a presentation on the areas affected by heavy rains in the state and gave detailed information on the relief and rescue work in progress. He said 23 districts received abnormal rainfall and 17 districts received above normal rainfall during this monsoon season. An amount of about Rs 211 crore has been sanctioned for more than 10 thousand restoration works. So far, 1159 people have been rescued. He said that Rs 20 lakh has been given to the divisional headquarters districts and Rs 10 lakh to the remaining districts before monsoon.
Make extensive preparations for the cooperative membership campaign from 9 to 29 September –
The Chief Minister said that for the smooth conduct of the cooperative membership drive to be conducted from October 2 to October 15, the Cooperation Department should conduct regular review regarding the preparedness with the departmental officers posted in the field. In this campaign, work like formation of new packs, membership enhancement, linking of deprived beneficiaries with PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, land allotment proceedings for landless packs, etc. will be done. In order to make this campaign a success, extensive preparations will be made during the period from 9th to 29th September. He said that the aim of the state government is that not a single gram panchayat in the state should be deprived of cooperatives.
Urban Service Camps to be held from 15th September, Rural Service Camps from 17th September
He said that the State Government is conducting Urban Service Camp from 15th September to 2nd October and Gramin Service Camp from 17th September. He directed that the pre-camp being held from 4th to 13th September in the line of urban service camps should be held with full seriousness and alacrity. Shri Sharma directed to give wide publicity to the concessions to be given under the Urban Service Camp.
Shri Sharma directed to prepare a special action plan regarding the preparation and conduct of the upcoming Khelo India University Games-2025. He said that these games will be held at seven divisional district headquarters.
