CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that cooperatives play an important role in realizing the resolve of Antyodaya and strengthening the cooperative sector is the priority of the State Government. He said that the new Co-operative Code will promote transparency and accountability in co-operative institutions. Also, in this new cooperative code, various provisions have been made to ensure easy access to cooperative facilities and public welfare schemes to the general public. This code will bring comprehensive reforms in the direction of modernization of cooperative societies.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma was addressing a meeting regarding the new Co-operative Code at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday. He said that the State Government is coming up with a new Co-operative Code to make the Rajasthan Co-operative Act-2001 relevant in the present context. A committee constituted for this purpose has visited states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala and has also done a practical study of the cooperative laws there and the effective provisions of the cooperative laws of these states have been included in the new cooperative code so that the cooperatives can be empowered.

The Chief Minister said that the new cooperative code should be made simple, practical and public code so that more and more people can take advantage of it. Our aim is to make cooperatives accessible to all in the state so that the people of the state are not deprived of the benefits they get through cooperatives. He directed the officials to include provisions like digital governance, computerization of village service cooperative societies, regular elections to cooperative societies, transparency in audit process and improvement in board elections and time-bound decision system in this new code.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that in the spirit of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi, “the departmental officers should give their suggestions for this new cooperative code so that the cooperative societies can be made transparent and financially strong. He directed the departmental officers to hold regular meetings in this regard and seek their suggestions by forming cooperative friends in the villages. During the meeting, the departmental officers briefed the draft of the new cooperative code through a presentation. Key points related to the Code were discussed in detail in the meeting. Minister of State for Cooperation (Independent Charge) Shri Gautam Kumar Dak was also present in the meeting.
