CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule (April 11).
Paying tributes to Mahatma Phule, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that he dedicated his entire life for the upliftment of Dalits, poor, backward classes and oppressed communities. She did historic work in the field of women empowerment and education along with removing social evils and inertia. It was because of his struggles and contribution to social reform that he was given the title ‘Mahatma’. Phule did extensive public awareness against evils like female education, caste discrimination and religious hypocrisy.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that his government is constantly striving to uplift the weaker sections of the society, especially women, by giving direction to the ideals of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. Schemes like Dadudayal Ghumantu Sashaktikaran Yojana, Lado Protsahan Yojana and providing cooking gas cylinders for poor women at just ₹450 are part of this thinking.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma called upon the citizens to take inspiration from the thoughts of Mahatma Phule and cooperate in strengthening social harmony and equality, thereby giving a new direction to the progress of the nation and the state.
