CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that fitness should not be just an option, but a priority of life. He informed that the state government had resolved to launch ‘Fit Rajasthan’ campaign, and ‘Run for Fit Rajasthan’ is a symbol of this resolve. Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the Chief Minister said that when the youth, women, farmers and labourers of the country are empowered, only then the country and the state will progress. With this objective, various programmes dedicated to women, farmers, Antyodaya, youth and good governance are being organized under the Rajasthan Diwas Mahotsav.
In a series of events organised as part of Rajasthan Diwas celebrations,CM Bhajan Lal Sharma flagged off the ‘Run for Fit Rajasthan’ run from Amar Jawan Jyoti on Saturday and participated in it himself. He said that the State Government is committed to provide better opportunities to every sportsperson and nurture their talent. In this direction, assistance of Rs 34 crore has been sanctioned to 1614 sportspersons for 2024-25.
State Government Schemes for Sportspersons
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that international medal winners are being given facilities like cash award, plot allotment, priority in government jobs and free travel in roadways buses. Apart from this, the players are also being provided security under the Sports Life Insurance Scheme. Referring to Mission Olympics-2028, he said 50 talented sportspersons will be given world-class training and a ‘Centre of Excellence Sports’ will be set up in Jaipur at a cost of Rs 20 crore.
Rajasthan’s glorious contribution to sports
“Rajasthan has a rich history in sports. Our players have brought laurels to the state at the national and international level. In the Paris Olympics, Anantjeet Singh and Maheshwari Chauhan participated in shooting, while in the Paris Paralympics, Avani Lekhara won a gold medal, Sunder Singh Gurjar and Mona Agarwal made the state proud by winning bronze medals. In the 38th National Games, the players of Rajasthan won 43 medals, which is a testimony to the sporting talent of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said that fitness is an important aspect as only healthy citizens can build a healthy society. He informed that the State Government is constantly formulating policies to encourage sports and sportspersons.
Gold medal winners felicitated
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma felicitated the gold medal winners in the National Games held in Uttarakhand and distributed land allotment pattas to 9 players. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Jogaram Patel, Principal Secretary (Revenue) Shri Dinesh Kumar, Secretary (Sports & Youth Affairs) Shri Neeraj K. Pawan, General Officer Commanding 61 Sub Area Major General Rohit Mehrotra, sportspersons, school students and a large number of general public were present on the occasion.
Rajasthan Day is celebrated every year on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the establishment of ‘Greater Rajasthan’ in the fourth phase of the seven-phase journey of the integration of Rajasthan was an important milestone. Rajasthan Day is celebrated every year to give it a lasting memory. Greater Rajasthan was established in Revati Nakshatra and Indrayog on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada of Samvat 2006, which was given special importance by Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Respecting their sentiments and the sentiments of the people of the state, the state government has decided that Rajasthan Day will now be celebrated on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada every year.
