CM Bhajan Lal Sharmasaid that the state government is working with dedication for the overall welfare of 8 crore people of the state. We are ensuring uninterrupted operation of public welfare development schemes for the all-round progress of the state. To ensure that there is no interruption due to legal reasons, the State Government is effectively taking sides in the cases pending in the Courts. He said that all the officers should discharge their duties responsibly so that the common people get timely relief and their trust in the government is further strengthened. Shri Sharma said that there will be no shortage of resources from the state government in legal work.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma was reviewing the cases related to various departments pending in the courts at the Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday. “Our priority is the welfare of the people. Therefore, cases related to public welfare should be pursued in the courts on priority. Senior advocates should be appointed at the level of Additional Advocate General to effectively represent the State Government in such important cases. He said that in cases where appeal is required in higher courts, timely appeal should be made by the state government.
Ensure regular monitoring of the progress of pending cases
The Chief Minister said that in the cases pending in the courts, the officers appointed by the department should ensure regular monitoring of the progress of the cases. These officers should be in constant touch with the advocate appointed by the State Government for pleading in the court and provide them necessary documents in time so that these cases can be disposed of expeditiously. He directed the officials to take strict action against the erring officials. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the higher officials themselves should also regularly discuss with the advocates and apprise them of various aspects related to the case.
Setting time-bound targets to reduce pendency – –
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that for such cases pending in the court which are related to more than one department, the concerned department should take legal action with mutual cooperation and continuous coordination. For this, nodal officers should be appointed at the competent level who should speed up the work by coordinating with these departments and the advocate appointed by the state government. Shri Sharma directed to depute officers for coordination at the Chief Minister’s Office level also. He said that action should be taken by setting time-bound targets to reduce the pendency of court cases. Divide the pending cases by category on priority basis and take prompt action in more important cases. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that even in the cases pending in the Supreme Court, the departmental officers should discuss with the concerned advocates by holding regular meetings through the VC and extend full cooperation to them.
Quickly dispose of recruitment-related cases by conducting legal tests
“The aim of the government is to provide employment to the youth. Therefore, the cases related to recruitment pending in the court should be properly examined and disposed of as soon as possible. He said that detailed legal advice should be taken while framing rules at the departmental level also so that the recruitment process could be completed seamlessly. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the stay orders from the court in the pending cases of land related to development schemes should be revoked with effective lobbying so that these projects can be taken forward.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary Raji P. Shrivastava, Director Bhupinder Singh, Executive Director PSCFC Devinder Singh, Chairman Backfinco Harjinder Singh Thekedar, Joint secretary-cum-director SC sub plan Raj Bahadur Singh, Under Secretary Manohar Lal Bangarh, Deputy Director Rupinderpal Singh, Joint Director Sushil Kumar, DCFA Avtar Singh, Deputy Director Sarbjinder Singh Randhawa, Deputy Director Parminder Singh Gill among several other officers were also present. Additional Advocate General, appearing for the state government in the Supreme Court, joined the meeting through the VC.
