Union Water Power Minister Shri Patil congratulates CM Mohan Yadav

CM Mohan Yadav said that the state’s development will continue to progress, focusing on benefiting devotees during Simhastha-2028, particularly by ensuring they can bathe in the pure water of the Kshipra River. On Monday, CM Mohan Yadav accompanied by Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri CR Patil, performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the Sevarkhedi-Silarkhedi project, valued at Rs 614.53 crore in Ujjain.CM Mohan Yadav expressed pride in the state receiving two major river-linking projects from Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He also highlighted that, in preparation for Simhastha-2028, development work will be undertaken across a 12,500-bigha area, similar to Haridwar. An unprecedented decision has been made to provide land plots to saints and akharas for permanent construction. Union Minister Shri Patil congratulated Dr. Yadav for these significant contributions to Ujjain’s development. During the Makar Sankranti festival, Dr. Yadav also distributed Suhaag materials and sarees to women and kites to children.
CM Mohan Yadav stated that in Simhastha-2028, after the 1967 Simhastha, devotees will experience the holy benefit of bathing in the sacred water of Mokshadayini Maa Kshipra. In previous Simhastha events, due to water shortages in the Kshipra River, water from the Gambhir River was used in 1980, 1992, and 2004, and water from Maa Narmada was brought in 2016. Some saints and sages expressed that if they had to bathe in Narmada water, they could have done so at Omkareshwar. CM Mohan Yadav made a resolution to ensure that, in Simhastha-2028, everyone would have holy snan in the water of the Kshipra River, understanding the sentiments of saints and sages. With the support of the Sevarkhedi-Silarkhedi and Kanh Close Duct projects, this resolution is set to be fulfilled, marking an unforgettable day in Ujjain’s history, with the blessings of Baba Mahakal.
Praising the Sevarkhedi-Silarkhedi and Kanh Close Duct projects, CM Mohan Yadav said they were remarkable initiatives. Under the Sevarkhedi-Silarkhedi project, Kshipra River water will be collected in the Silarkhedi reservoir during the rainy season and will be released back into the river as needed to ensure a continuous flow. The project involves constructing a barrage with a 1.45 million cubic meter capacity at Sevarkhedi, from where the water will be transported to the Silarkhedi reservoir through a 6.50 km long, 3-meter diameter pipeline. This will increase the Silarkhedi reservoir’s capacity to 51 million cubic meters. The stored water will then be released into the Kshipra River near Kunwaria village via a 7.00 km long, 1.80-meter diameter pipeline, as required.
CM Mohan Yadav said that the Kanh Close Duct Scheme is progressing, with the Kanh River being diverted through a 30 km long pipeline. The water will be cleaned along the way and then released into downstream of the Gambhir River, outside the limits of Ujjain city. The project is scheduled for completion by September 2027. The pipeline will be buried 100 feet deep, ensuring that there will be no disruption to the fields, and farming activities will continue as usual.
CM Mohan Yadav said that Ujjain is a sacred place where Maa Kshipra, Baba Mahakal, and all the gods and goddesses reside. He noted that the Kshipra River originates from the hill of Ujjaini village and circles the city of Ujjain. CM Mohan Yadav emphasized that Madhya Pradesh is the motherland of rivers, with the highest number of rivers, and is a land of great spiritual significance. He highlighted that Lord Shri Ram spent 11 years in Chitrakoot, Lord Krishna studied in Ujjain and mastered 24 arts, and Adi Guru Shankaracharya received Deeksha in this land.
Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri CR Patil urged the implementation of a campaign to conserve water and build numerous groundwater recharge structures to maximize the storage of rainwater underground. He said that the Government of India provides funding to districts for the construction of such structures. Shri Patil emphasized the importance of water for the future, stating that the water of the village should remain in the village, and the water of the field should stay in the field. He called for all possible measures to be taken to conserve rainwater.
Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, in his welcome address, stated that the Sevarkhedi-Silarkhedi project will ensure a continuous flow of pure water in Mokshadayini Maa Kshipra. He also provided detailed information about the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal River Project, which is set to revolutionize the field of irrigation. Shri Silawat highlighted that the project aims to provide irrigation facilities to an area of 1 lakh hectares in the state in the near future.
