CM Mohan Yadav Set Free 2 Cheetahs and 3 Cubs from the Enclosure.
CM Mohan Yadav expressed immense happiness, sharing his joy at seeing cheetahs, once extinct in Asia, now flourishing and expanding their family on the sacred land of Madhya Pradesh. He highlighted that Madhya Pradesh, embodying the principle of “Jeev Charachar Jantu Samana” (all living beings are equal), has become a unique wildlife sanctuary, providing refuge to several endangered species.
CM Mohan Yadav reaffirmed the state’s commitment to wildlife conservation and biodiversity preservation for future generations, assuring that Madhya Pradesh will continue to adopt innovative measures to enhance its natural heritage.
On Wednesday, the Chief Minister released female cheetahs Asha, Dheera, and Asha’s three cubs into the open forest at Palpur-Kuno National Park. He expressed confidence that Kuno would become a prominent tourist destination. He recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had initiated the cheetah reintroduction in India by releasing two cheetahs into the wild. CM Mohan Yadav felt honored to release five cheetahs and congratulated the people of the state.
CM Mohan Yadav wished for the cheetahs to thrive and become a significant tourist attraction. He praised the efforts of wildlife conservation personnel and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting them. He also encouraged eco-tourism in the Kuno Sanctuary, which would help conservation efforts while providing employment opportunities for local communities.
CM Mohan Yadav emphasized the state government’s vision of transforming Kuno National Park into an exemplary sanctuary for future wildlife reintroductions. So far, seven cheetahs have been released, and with the birth of two new cubs from Veera, the total number of cheetahs in the park has reached 26. Two monitoring teams have been assigned to ensure the safety and well-being of the released cubs.
The cheetah release program at Kuno National Park was attended by Gwalior-Chambal Commissioner Shri Manoj Khatri, I.G. Chambal Shri Sushant Saxena, Sheopur Collector Shri Arpit Verma, CCF Shri Uttam Sharma, DFO Kuno Shri R. Thirukural, and other administrative and forest department officials.
