CM Yogi Adityanath reviewed the works of the Urban Development Department and discussed the upcoming schemes in a high-level meeting held at his official residence today. He also gave necessary instructions.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the promotion of eco-friendly clean fuel buses in urban transport is yielding good results. At present, 700 electric buses are running in 15 cities. He directed that no diesel / CNG buses more than 15 years old should be used and scrapped. They should be replaced by e-buses. Private e-bus operators should also be given a chance in the city bus service, but their fares should be controlled and parking and routes should be fixed. These buses will be connected to nearby towns.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the problem of parking in cities is increasing day by day and it needs to be arranged according to the place, time and demand. There should be parity in parking charges and make monthly passes for local traders and employees. Also, there should be no illegal collection in the name of parking.
There should also be uniformity in advertisement hoardings in cities. Electronic display boards should be installed by removing dangerous hoardings and illegal hoardings should be removed. There should be clear regulations for all urban bodies and statues / pictures of great personalities should not be defaced with advertisement hoardings.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that there should be uniformity in the fee in the matter of transfer, registration, will etc. of immovable properties in Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats. For this, a uniform procedure and fee should be implemented in all municipal bodies.
The state government has planned to develop all district-headquartered urban bodies as smart municipal councils. This will include digital governance, monitoring of air and water pollution, smart parking, smart lighting, exhibition spaces, auditoriums, vending zones, digital libraries and promotion of renewable energy projects. A budget has been allocated for this.
CM Yogi Adityanath appreciated the Shivalik Park prepared with waste material in Prayagraj and also planned similar parks in Mathura-Vrindavan and Ayodhya, in which stories related to the life of Lord Rama, Krishna and Luv Kush will be displayed.
There should be no shortage of manpower in municipal bodies and wherever there are vacancies, the process of recruitment should be completed quickly. At the same time, the municipal bodies will have to take concrete steps to increase their income.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the drainage system in all the urban bodies should be improved before the rains so that there is no problem of waterlogging. A permanent solution to the problem of street dog bites should also be made.
