Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath reviewed the work of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board at a high-level meeting held at his official residence today.The Chief Minister expressed the need to restructure the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board under the mantra of “Reform, Perform and Transform” of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.He said that since the formation of the Board in 1995, its functions, scope and nature of work have changed significantly, and now it should be changed according to the needs of the time.
At present, there are 28 regional offices of the Pollution Control Board in 75 districts of the state, which should be reorganized into 18 divisions.Also, an office should be set up in every district.In mandals where industrial activity is high, more than one regional office can be set up.
CM Yogi Adityanath advised to create separate cells for solid waste management, liquid waste management, hazardous waste, e-waste, biomedical waste management in the board to solve environmental problems.Apart from this, the establishment of special units for the prevention of public grievances, research and development, environmental public awareness, publication, use of IT and Artificial Intelligence will improve the efficiency of the Board.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized on reducing the disposal time of No Objection Application (CTO / CTE) related to industries.At present, disposal of applications for red, orange and green category takes 120 days, which should be reduced to 40, 25 and 10 days respectively.Necessary arrangements had also been made for this.
The Chief Minister called for expeditious completion of the recruitment process for the vacant posts in the Pollution Control Board and suggested that capable youth from reputed technical institutions such as IITs be appointed on good packages. He also said that since there has been no change in the No Objection and Consent Fee since 2008, the Board should look into it and make necessary corrections.
