CM Yogi Adityanath said that the needy and people with limited resources will be able to organize auspicious events including the marriage of their daughters in Kalyan Mandapam.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 116 development projects worth Rs 103 crore, including the Kalyan Mandapam built at a cost of Rs 4.70 crore in the newly created Khorabar ward of the Municipal Corporation in Gorakhpur district. On the occasion, he released a booklet on sanitation and felicitated sanitation workers. He also inspected the Kalyana Mandapam, took stock of the facilities available there and flagged off eight vehicles of the Municipal Corporation.
In his address, CM Yogi Adityanath said that a new beginning has been made in Gorakhpur metropolis. This Kalyana Mandapam has become a suitable place for organizing various Manglik and public programmes. Those who have enough resources can organize programs in hotels or big lawns, but those with limited means can organize the marriage of their daughters and other auspicious programs in this mandapam built by the Municipal Corporation and Gorakhpur Development Authority. Families living in small houses can also perform their religious rituals here.
Built at a cost of Rs 4.70 crore, the Kalyan Mandapam has a spacious auditorium, kitchen, dormitory, six rooms, lawns and parking facilities. Similar Kalyan Mandapams are also being constructed at various places in the Gorakhpur metropolis. He also informed that he has provided funds from his MLA fund for this project. The mandapam will be available to poor, middle-class families and municipal sanitation workers for just Rs 11,000, while it can be rented for a slightly higher amount for commercial use. He expressed confidence that in the next few months, seven Kalyan Mandapams will be ready in Gorakhpur city, which will facilitate the organization of public events.
Moreover, CM Yogi Adityanath while inaugurating the animal crematorium said that this will make a well-organized system of disposal of dead animals and will provide relief from the stench and other problems.
CM Yogi Adityanath also said that work is being done towards the beautification of the Ghantaghar area to maintain the beauty of Gorakhpur. The multi-level parking near Bandhu Singh Park is being constructed by the Municipal Corporation. At the same time, development of parks in different parts of the city, widening of roads, Gordhoia Nallah and Ramgarhtal project are also being taken forward in a better way. Effective steps are also being taken to get rid of the problem of waterlogging, so that the city can be given an orderly and developed look.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that 40 years ago, Gorakhpur and eastern Uttar Pradesh have seen a horrific period of deaths due to dirt. Children were seen falling prey to diseases, mainly due to uncontrolled disposal of garbage, clogging of ponds and drains. This resulted in a large number of deaths in the region. But when the people of Gorakhpur and eastern Uttar Pradesh became aware of cleanliness, a deadly disease like encephalitis was eradicated. He said that the problem of encephalitis is not there today due to the priority given to cleanliness.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the Swachh Bharat Mission and the schemes of the double engine government are showing positive results. He urged people not to use single-use plastic, polythene, plastic bags, cups, glasses, plates and spoons as there are alternatives. When better options exist, we don’t have to go back to the old ways. This campaign will go further by giving priority to cleanliness. In this direction, a cleanliness booklet has been released today, which the Municipal Corporation will arrange to distribute in all the schools.
CM Yogi Adityanath while felicitating the sanitation workers and Safai Mitras said that many development schemes have been taken forward. Under the Medicity Scheme of Khorabar, various types of housing are being built, including EWS (Economically Weaker Section) housing for the poor and MIG (Middle Income Group) housing for the middle class. Along with this, plots have also been made available so that the people of Gorakhpur and eastern Uttar Pradesh can take advantage of this scheme. The Gorakhpur Development Authority is taking this scheme forward, and under this, all the two-bedroom houses have been booked. Other similar projects also need to be expedited so that every person can get his own house. Gorakhpur is constantly setting new dimensions of development, and it is the responsibility of all to participate in this campaign.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that Liquid Waste Management is being implemented in a better way under the project of the Municipal Corporation. Earlier, where the water was completely dirty, it is being cleaned and made useful by natural processes. The city’s dirty water and sewerage water will no longer go into the Rapti river, as an STP (sewage treatment plant) has been set up for this. Where there is no STP, water is being purified through traditional methods and made useful for farming. Similarly, many other development schemes are being operated in the city, and big projects are also being built. Appropriate arrangements will also be made for those who have not yet got accommodation.
On this occasion MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal, SSP Kanwardeep Kaur IPS, Civil Surgeon Dr. Parminder Kaur, Congress leader Amandeep Singh Gora Gill, Ranjit Singh Rana, SMO. Dr. Bholath Shalindar Singh and others were present.
