CM YOGI held a meeting with all senior administrative and police officers of the state through video conferencing from his official residence. He said that major festivals like Shravan, Kanwar Yatra, Shivaratri, Raksha Bandhan, Rath Yatra and Moharram will be celebrated during the period from June 27 to August 9. This period is very important from the point of view of administration, health, hygiene and safety.
The Chief Minister stressed on conducting the Kanwar Yatra in a peaceful, disciplined and reverential manner. He directed to limit the sound of DJs, drums and cards, stop provocative slogans and unconventional route changes. Instructions were given to take strict action against display of arms in religious events and political use of religious symbols. He made it clear that felling of trees, removal of slums or homelessness of the poor would not be acceptable in any event.
He asked them to ensure strict monitoring of social media, control of fake news, and drone surveillance in view of security. Instructions were given to the local administration to maintain contact with Kanwar associations to prevent the infiltration of anti-social elements in the Kanwar Yatra.
Keeping in mind the convenience of the devotees, he said that there should be a ban on the sale of meat on the Kanwar routes, cleanliness, road lighting, drinking water, toilets, and adequate arrangements for first aid. Damaged power lines and wires should be repaired immediately. The public service centres should be run by verifying the camp operators.
In view of the heavy rush at the Shiva temples on Shravan Mondays, the Panchayat and Municipal bodies were directed to make advance preparations for cleanliness, drainage and traffic arrangements. At the same time, the ban on polythene was strictly enforced.
The Chief Minister also directed that Muharram programmes should be carried out peacefully and on pre-decided routes. Coordination with organising committees and peace committees was talked about.
Taking cognisance of recent conspiracies to spread caste tensions in some districts, the Chief Minister warned that such attempts would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He called for public identification and strict action against the culprits and sought immediate action from the administration.
During the review of CM Helpline and IGRS regarding the disposal of public grievances, he expressed dissatisfaction over the negligence in some districts and directed to improve the functioning.
In the end, he referred to the School Pairing Policy and said that it should be transparent and governed according to local requirements so that the interests of teachers, students and parents are protected.
