Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath paid floral tributes in front of the statue of former Prime Minister and farmer’s well-wisher late Chaudhary Charan Singh ji on his death anniversary in the Vidhan Bhawan premises today.
The Chief Minister said that Chaudhary Charan Singh ji was not only a great freedom fighter but he was also a true messiah of farmers. He passed away on May 29, 1987, but the country still remembers him with respect for the remarkable work he did towards land reforms, implementation of the Delimitation Act and rural development. The Chief Minister also said that it was fortunate for Uttar Pradesh that it got a leader like Chaudhary Charan Singh for a long time.
CM Yogi further said that Chaudhary Saheb efficiently discharged his responsibilities not only as Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, but also in important positions like Home and Finance Minister. As the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, he established a transparent and honest governance system, and the work he did for land reform and development of villages still resonates in the villages.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the efforts made for the development of farmers and rural areas in the last 11 years are proving to be historic.
Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh, MLC Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLA Rajeshwar Singh, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary Sanjay Prasad and other senior officers.
