Uttar Pradesh CM YOGI Adityanath received a courtesy call from Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman and Secretary, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, Government of India, at his official residence here today. During the meeting, many important topics including new possibilities of development through remote sensing technologies for the state were discussed in detail.
The Chairman, ISRO briefed CM YOGI about the progress and achievements made so far in the field of remote sensing. He informed that extensive work has already been done on topics like weather forecasting, forest and green cover monitoring, groundwater profile, mapping and climate change.
Expressing deep concern over the loss of lives due to lightning in the state,CM YOGI suggested that a separate satellite be developed for Uttar Pradesh, which would be able to give early warning of lightning in particular.
The Chief Minister said that on an average, 300 people have died in lightning strikes in the state in the last few years. In such a situation, this state-of-the-art technology can prove to be effective in preventing disaster-related casualties in the state. On the request of the Chief Minister, the ISRO Chairman assured that he would look into the matter seriously and work towards finding a concrete solution soon
