Monsoon in Delhi: IMD makes BIG announcement amid heavy rainfall

IMD declares the start of the SouthWest monsoon in Delhi and other areas like East Uttar Pradesh and West Rajasthan.

According to the IMD, the Southwest Monsoon has expanded into more areas of India as part of Monsoon 2024. According to the IMD, these include West Rajasthan, the remaining portions of East Rajasthan, as well as certain areas of East Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

The observatory agency has also stated that, in the next two to three days, favorable circumstances should allow the South West monsoon to proceed through portions of Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu.

An orange signal, indicating moderate to strong rainfall spells, has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for some areas in Delhi. Up until June 29, the orange alert is anticipated to be in effect.

The meteorological observatory reported on June 27 that the Southwest monsoon was continuing to advance over most of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and portions of Punjab are among the other regions.
