Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj controversy grows as SAD announces screenings across Punjab after the film’s OTT removal. Akal Takht plans special ardas event.
The controversy surrounding Satluj continues to grow as the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has announced plans to screen Diljit Dosanjh’s film across villages and towns of Punjab. The decision comes after the sudden removal of the movie from the OTT platform shortly after its release, sparking discussions across the country.
SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal announced that the party would organise public screenings of Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj in every village and corner of Punjab. According to the party, the initiative aims to make people aware of the events depicted in the film and highlight the story of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
SAD Announces Statewide Screenings of Satluj
Sharing the announcement on social media, Sukhbir Singh Badal said that Satluj is based on the alleged atrocities faced by innocent Sikh youths and personalities like Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra during a difficult period in Punjab’s history.
The SAD president stated that the film represents the painful experiences of families affected during the 1990s and that future generations should know about these events.
The party’s move comes after several groups and organisations across different parts of India started arranging public screenings following the removal of the film from the OTT platform.
Akal Takht to Organise Special Religious Gathering
Meanwhile, Akal Takht has also announced a special religious gathering related to the issues highlighted in the film. The event will be held on July 14 at Harike Pattan near the Sutlej river.
According to the announcement, prayers (ardas) will be offered for the peace of those Sikh youths whose cases were brought forward by Jaswant Singh Khalra. The gathering will also seek justice for families affected by the incidents discussed in the film.
