The much-awaited IFFM Awards 2026 nominations have been officially announced, bringing together some of the biggest names and most celebrated projects from Indian cinema and streaming platforms. Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2026 revealed its complete list of nominees on Wednesday, with films like Sitaare Zameen Par, Saiyaara and Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 emerging as major contenders.
The IFFM Awards 2026 nominations have created excitement among movie lovers as several critically acclaimed films and performances have secured spots across major categories. Interestingly, Dhurandhar, despite being one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2025, received fewer nominations compared to some other major releases.
Sitaare Zameen Par and Saiyaara Shine in Best Film Category
The Best Film category at the IFFM Awards 2026 nominations features a diverse selection of movies from different Indian languages. The nominees include Haq, Jarann, Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, Saiyaara, Sitaare Zameen Par, Sharthopor and The Great Shamsuddin Family.
Among these, Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par and Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara have gained significant attention due to their strong performances and audience response.
The Best Director category also features top filmmakers including Mohit Suri for Saiyaara, Rishab Shetty for Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 and R. S. Prasanna for Sitaare Zameen Par.

Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh and Rishab Shetty Nominated for Best Performance
The Best Performance (Male) category at the IFFM Awards 2026 nominations includes some of the biggest actors from Indian cinema.
Aamir Khan has received a nomination for Sitaare Zameen Par, while Ranveer Singh has earned a spot for Dhurandhar. Other nominees include Ahaan Pandey for Saiyaara, Dulquer Salmaan for Kaantha and Rishab Shetty for Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1.
In the Best Performance (Female) category, nominees include Aneet Padda for Saiyaara, Kalyani Priyadarshan for Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, Yami Gautam Dhar for Haq and Rani Mukerji for Mardaani 3.
Kohrra Season 2 Becomes Top Contender in Series Categories
While films dominated headlines, streaming content also made a strong impact at the festival. Kohrra Season 2 received multiple nominations and became one of the biggest highlights of the series section.
The show has been nominated in categories including Best Series, Best Performance (Male) and Best Performance (Female). Actors Barun Sobti and Mona Singh received nominations for their performances in Kohrra Season 2.
Other nominated series include Baai Tujhyapayi, Matka King, Real Kashmir Football Club, Sapne Vs Everyone, The Ba***ds of Bollywood and Freedom at Midnight: Season 2.
Documentary and Regional Cinema Get Special Recognition
The IFFM Awards 2026 nominations also highlight independent cinema, documentaries and regional storytelling. The Best Documentary Film category includes projects such as Flying Tigers, Working Girls, Loving Karma and Njaan Revathi.
The festival has also recognised films from neighbouring countries under the Best Film from The Subcontinent category, featuring entries from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
IFFM Awards 2026 Ceremony Details
The 17th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will take place from August 13 to August 23 in Melbourne. The festival is supported by the Victorian Government and will include film screenings, premieres, discussions, masterclasses and cultural events.
The winners of the IFFM Awards 2026 nominations will be selected by an expert jury comprising respected members of Australia’s film and cultural community. The awards ceremony will celebrate the best of Indian cinema across films, series, documentaries and performances.
