Actor Continues Immunotherapy as Family Adjusts to a New Treatment Routine
Television actor Dipika Kakar continues to battle Stage 2 liver cancer with strength and resilience. In his latest YouTube vlog, husband Shoaib Ibrahim shared a fresh health update, revealing that the actress recently underwent another scheduled IV infusion as part of her ongoing treatment. The couple has been regularly updating fans on Dipika’s recovery journey, offering an honest glimpse into their lives as they navigate her treatment.
During the hospital visit, Shoaib shared that doctors also administered intravenous iron after Dipika’s recent blood tests showed slightly low iron levels. He added that the infusion was expected to take a couple of hours before they could return home.
“A couple of things came up. Her iron levels were a little low the last time, so they’re giving her iron through an IV as well. After that, I think we’ll head home in another one-and-a-half to two hours,” Shoaib said.
Dipika, who appeared tired while receiving the infusion, reassured fans that she was doing well. She explained that the dizziness she felt was due to the pre-medication given before the treatment.
“Everything’s good. I just feel a little dizzy because they gave me a medicine beforehand as pre-medication, which causes drowsiness. Otherwise, everything is absolutely fine,” she said.
Unlike her previous infusion session, which required an overnight stay, this time the treatment was completed as a day-care procedure, allowing the family to head home the same day.
“It’s Become a Routine Every 20–21 Days,” Says Shoaib Ibrahim
Speaking about Dipika’s ongoing treatment, Shoaib shared that hospital visits have now become a regular part of their routine.
“Last time, we had to get admitted for an entire night. But this time, we’ve managed to get it done as a day-care procedure so that we can reach home to Ruhaan tonight. This has now become a routine every 20–21 days,” he said.

He also revealed that their son, Ruhaan, has become increasingly attached to Dipika over the past few weeks.
“He’s been getting a little cranky lately. As he’s growing up, he’s becoming more attached to Dipika. Over the past month, I wasn’t home, Papa wasn’t home, and Dev bhaiya wasn’t there either. It’s just Dipika, Dipika, Dipika,” Shoaib shared.
Dipika Kakar’s Cancer Journey So Far
Dipika revealed her Stage 2 liver cancer diagnosis in May 2025 and later underwent a 14-hour robotic surgery to remove a tumour reportedly the size of a tennis ball. The procedure also involved the removal of nearly 22% of her liver and her gallbladder.
Following the surgery, Shoaib shared that doctors had successfully removed the cancer, although Dipika would continue receiving treatment as part of her recovery plan. Earlier this year, she also underwent a minor procedure to remove a 13mm liver cyst and has since been receiving regular immunotherapy sessions, along with routine scans and blood tests.
In an earlier vlog, Dipika had said she had not experienced any major side effects from immunotherapy, although she occasionally felt tired, experienced mild fever, and dealt with temporary back pain after treatment.
As she continues her recovery, Dipika remains under close medical supervision. Fans have continued to send messages of love and support, applauding the actress for her courage and positivity throughout her cancer journey.
