Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Hits Milestone: By January 2024, more than 1,16,000 Women Beneficiaries fill forms
The scheme’s main goal is to address the state’s falling girl-to-boy ratio at birth.
The Punjab government has allocated Rs. 25 crore under the Matru Vandana Yojana for the current fiscal year in order to improve the nutritional and health status of expectant mothers and nursing mothers. Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister for Social Security, Women, and Child Development, disclosed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government is dedicated to this cause.
Dr. Baljit Kaur underlined that the program’s goal is to enhance mother and child well-being and nutrition. 52,229 women beneficiaries in the state have received a total of Rs. 25 crores in funding during the current fiscal year.
The government has given women who are 19 years of age or older Rs. 5,000 in two installments (Rs. 3,000 + Rs. 2,000) upon the birth of their first living child. In addition, to help improve the sex ratio, Rs. 6,000 is given at the birth of a second girl child. The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, which aims to improve the nutritional and health status of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, includes this financial aid.
The department aims to have at least 98,036 recipients fill out forms under the Matru Vandana Yojana by March 2024, with completion expected by November 2023. Roughly 1,16,000 female beneficiaries had completed the paperwork by January 2024.
The primary objective of the scheme is to address the declining sex ratio of girls at birth in the state. The forms for financial help are filled out with assistance from Anganwadi workers at every Anganwadi Center in the state. The minister emphasized that the beneficiaries’ bank or post office accounts, which are connected to their Aadhaar cards, get the money directly.
In order to provide maximum advantage, Dr. Baljit Kaur asked officials to complete papers for qualified recipients as soon as possible. Beneficiaries can get in touch with the Office of the District Program Officer, the Office of the Child Development Project Officer, or the district Anganwadi Center for more information.
