Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Co-Stars Farhan Akhtar and Naseeruddin Shah’s Real-Life Tension
Fans of Zoya Akhtar’s iconic 2011 film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara will remember the emotionally charged reunion scene between Farhan Akhtar’s character Imraan and Naseeruddin Shah’s Salman — a moment filled with tension and unresolved feelings. Interestingly, this on-screen dynamic seems to echo the real-life relationship between the two celebrated actors.

Back in 2013, Naseeruddin Shah had openly expressed his lack of admiration for Farhan Akhtar’s films and acting, with the notable exception of Farhan’s directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai (2001). In an interview with The Times of India, Shah stated, “I’m not a great fan of his acting or his films,” while simultaneously acknowledging Farhan’s multifaceted talents.
Now, nearly 12 years later, Farhan Akhtar has broken his silence, offering a candid response to Naseeruddin’s remarks.
Speaking about the public nature of the critique, Farhan said, “It has to be done with a certain degree of love, and a certain degree of respect for the other person. I felt that it didn’t come from that place. I just felt it was just like a statement just thrown out publicly. I felt that then this person doesn’t respect you… so why should I reach out to a person who doesn’t respect me?”
