In a significant relief for students and parents, the Punjab Government has extended the deadline for submitting and updating digitised birth certificates on the Unified Student Registration Portal for the 2026-27 academic session. Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced that the revised timeline has been approved by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as part of the government’s student-centric education reforms.
Harjot Singh Bains Announces New Deadline for Class 8 Students
According to Harjot Singh Bains, students of Class 8 who have not yet obtained a digitised birth certificate will now have until October 30, 2026, to secure the document and upload it to the Unified Student Registration Portal.
The extension is expected to benefit thousands of students who were unable to complete the documentation process within the earlier deadline.
Additional Time for Classes 9 and 10
The Punjab Government has also granted relief to Class 9 and Class 10 students. They will now be allowed to make necessary corrections and updates to their digitised birth certificates until the registration process for the next academic session begins.
This move is intended to ensure that students can complete their academic registration without unnecessary hurdles.
