AAP Gujarat chief Isudan Gadhvi backs Bharuch farmers, raising concerns over high-tension lines and demanding fair compensation and farmer consent.
Aam Aadmi Party Gujarat president Isudan Gadhvi attended a Kisan Swabhiman Sammelan in Bharuch and raised concerns over the installation of high-tension power lines across agricultural areas. He alleged that farmers were not being adequately consulted before the projects were taken forward and demanded a fair compensation mechanism.
Farmers Oppose High-Tension Lines
Speaking at the farmers’ gathering, Gadhvi said the conference was organised to highlight concerns over high-tension transmission lines being laid in Bharuch and surrounding areas.
According to Gadhvi, several transmission lines have already been planned or installed, while multiple notifications have also been issued. He claimed that more than 250 villages could be affected by the proposed network.
He alleged that farmers had already lost land for various infrastructure projects and were now facing another challenge due to transmission lines passing through agricultural fields.
Gadhvi Demands Fair Compensation for Farmers
Gadhvi said farmers should receive appropriate compensation for the use of their land. He listed several options, including compensation equivalent to four times the prevailing market value, payment based on the projected value over 25 years, regular land-use rent or a share in the profits generated from the project.
He also demanded that companies or government agencies should not enter farmers’ fields until an agreement is reached with landowners on compensation.
‘Farmers Should Be Consulted Before Projects’
The AAP Gujarat leader alleged that companies were approaching the government instead of directly negotiating with affected farmers. He questioned whether government policies were adequately protecting farmers’ interests.
Gadhvi also criticised what he described as the use of administrative pressure during disputes over land and transmission projects. These allegations were made by Gadhvi while addressing the gathering.

High-Tension Lines May Affect 23 Districts: Gadhvi
Gadhvi claimed that the issue was not limited to Bharuch and that high-tension transmission lines were expected to pass through areas across 23 districts of Gujarat.
He urged farmers to remain united and collectively raise their concerns regarding land acquisition, compensation and the implementation of power infrastructure projects.
Political Message to Farmers
During his address, Gadhvi also made a political appeal to farmers. He said farmers should consider their concerns and interests while deciding their political choices in future elections.
He claimed that farmers across Gujarat could unite over issues related to land, compensation and high-tension transmission lines.
Demand for Dialogue and Compensation
The main focus of the Kisan Swabhiman Sammelan remained the concerns of farmers affected by proposed power transmission infrastructure. Gadhvi called for greater consultation with landowners and a compensation framework that he said should adequately reflect the value and use of agricultural land.
The remarks come amid continued discussions over infrastructure development, land use and compensation for farmers in different parts of Gujarat.
