Isudan Gadhvi leads AAP’s Jan Samvad in Borij, Gandhinagar, highlighting farmers’ drought concerns and demanding action from the Gujarat government.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organised a public interaction programme in Borij, Gandhinagar, as part of its campaign on drought-related concerns and ahead of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation election. The event was attended by Gujarat AAP president Isudan Gadhvi, MLA Gopal Italia, Kisan Morcha state president Praveen Ram and several other party office-bearers.
The programme focused on the demand for declaring drought in areas that the party says are facing rainfall shortages and agricultural difficulties. AAP has been running a wider campaign on the issue, including collecting applications from farmers in drought-affected areas.
Isudan Gadhvi Raises Farmers’ Drought Concerns
Speaking to the media after the programme, Isudan Gadhvi said farmers had submitted applications seeking drought status for affected regions. He said copies and samples of these applications were brought to the Gandhinagar programme as part of the campaign.
According to Gadhvi, the party is seeking action for areas including Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Kutch, parts of Saurashtra and North Gujarat. AAP has previously raised similar demands and asked for drought assessments in several parts of the state.
AAP’s Drought Campaign Expands
The Borij event comes amid a broader AAP campaign focused on drought declarations. The party has said its teams have been visiting villages and collecting applications from farmers to document demands for official drought status.
In September, AAP announced a village-level campaign across 108 talukas, with teams tasked with collecting applications from affected farmers. The party said the applications would subsequently be taken to the government as part of its campaign.
Isudan Gadhvi has also raised concerns over crop damage and water shortages in several districts. In a recent statement, he pointed to damage to groundnut crops in Devbhumi Dwarka and said farmers were facing difficulties because of inadequate rainfall.
Gopal Italia Highlights Local Issues
Addressing the gathering, AAP MLA Gopal Italia spoke about issues such as roads, sanitation, education, food and healthcare facilities. He argued that representatives working closely with local communities are more familiar with everyday problems faced by residents.
Italia also referred to local party workers who assist residents with issues involving documents, welfare applications and electricity-related matters. His remarks focused on the role of local representatives in addressing routine civic and administrative concerns.

Praveen Ram Pitches AAP as an Alternative
AAP Kisan Morcha state president Praveen Ram also addressed the gathering. He criticised both the BJP and Congress while presenting AAP as an alternative in Gujarat politics.
Ram used an agricultural analogy to argue that voters should consider giving an opportunity to a different political party. He referred to AAP’s existing local representation and contrasted it with instances where elected representatives from other parties later changed political affiliations.
These statements represent the AAP leaders’ political positions ahead of the upcoming civic election.
Gandhinagar Civic Poll Campaign
The Borij programme also comes as political parties step up campaigning for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation election. AAP has included Isudan Gadhvi among its prominent campaigners for Gujarat’s local-body elections. The party announced a list of 20 star campaigners in September, including Gopal Italia and Praveen Ram.
For AAP, the drought issue has become one of the key subjects raised during its outreach to farmers. Isudan Gadhvi has repeatedly demanded that the government assess areas facing rainfall shortages and consider declaring them drought-affected.
What Happens Next?
The party is continuing to collect farmer applications and raise the issue of drought relief with the state government. The next steps will depend on government assessments and decisions regarding the status of affected areas.
The Borij Jan Samvad brought together AAP leaders and local participants around both the drought-related demands and the ongoing Gandhinagar civic election campaign. Isudan Gadhvi and other party leaders have indicated that the issue will remain part of AAP’s political outreach in Gujarat.
