Lok Sabha polls
Lok Sabha polls: An opinion study released approximately two weeks prior to the national elections predicts that an alliance led by the party of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive the majority of votes in the nation’s most populous state.
According to results from an ABP News-CVoter opinion survey released late Tuesday, Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance is predicted to receive 52% of the vote in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, which is comparable to their performance in 2019. Another regional party is expected to receive 7% of the vote, while an opposition coalition is expected to receive 36% of the vote.
Lok Sabha polls: Because only Uttar Pradesh sends 80 representatives to the 543-member lower house of parliament, the state has significant political clout. More than 400 legislative seats will be won by Modi’s party and allies, according to his predictions.
Lok Sabha polls: In Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies received 51.2% of the vote in the 2019 elections. In an attempt to win a record third term in office, Modi is relying on robust economic growth and Hindu nationalist initiatives, such as the construction of a temple in the site of a long-closed mosque.
Here are some of the other findings from the survey:
- Of those surveyed, 42% expressed high levels of satisfaction with Modi’s government, compared to 29% who expressed lower levels of satisfaction and 27% who expressed dissatisfaction.
- Sixty-two percent support Modi as prime minister, while twenty-four percent favor Rahul Gandhi of the opposition Congress in that role.
- Fifty-one percent expressed great satisfaction with the work of the BJP-controlled state government in Uttar Pradesh, whereas twenty-five percent expressed dissatisfaction. An additional 23% expressed dissatisfaction.
- 2,258 persons were included in the poll. Its error range is three to five percent in each way.
