NIMAS held an event in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh, to honor five of its notable graduates who had climbed Mount Everest.

NIMAS:   National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports,   on June 19, 2024 honored five of its illustrious graduates who had accomplished the feat of climbing Mount Everest. Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal, Director of NIMAS, presented awards to Kabak Yano (2024), Tagit Sorang Abraham (2021), Tashi Yangjom (2021), Tongchen Nimsonga (2018), and Dorjee Khandu (2018), among other Everest climbers.

NIMAS director speaking to a group of 120 students from Basic Mountaineering Course Ser No. 48, conveyed his respect for the extraordinary accomplishments and commitment of the Everest climbers. “Those of our alumni who have climbed the highest peak in the globe fill us with enormous pride. Their achievements are evidence of their perseverance, hard work, and the demanding instruction they received from NIMAS,” he continued.

Additionally, Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal congratulated the Basic Mountaineering Course Ser No. 48 graduates the best of luck in all of their future undertakings. “NIMAS instills in its trainees a spirit of adventure, endurance, and resilience. He remarked, “Our upcoming graduates will carry on the tradition of excellence and make important contributions to the mountaineering community.”

Three people have reached the peak of Mount Everest solo: Kabak Yano, Tagit Sorang Abraham, and Tashi Yangjom, on May 21, 2024, May 31, 2021, and May 11, 2021, respectively. On May 19, 2018, Tongchen Nimsonga and Dorjee Khandu, under the direction of the Director of NIMAS, ascended the mountain.

Mountaineering, mountain terrain biking, white water rafting, scuba diving, paramotoring, and paragliding are among the adventure sports for which NIMAS is currently offering adventure course certification. It is a prestigious school committed to offering top-notch instruction in all three categories of adventure—land, aero, and aquatic. NIMAS strives to create competent, tough, and ecologically aware explorers by emphasizing excellence and holistic development.
