National School Games concluded on the winning note for Punjab State; as Punjab emerged National champions in judo and karate in National Games, Jharkhand emerged national football champion. The six days national games concluded here today with much enthusiasm, great memories and sporting flavour.
The felicitation ceremony to honour and felicitate the champions was organised at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School Hall at shaheed Udham Singh Nagar Ludhiana here this afternoon. The function was presided over by ADC Harjinder Singh. Football; judo and karate champions were awarded with glittering trophies; medals and certificates on this occasion. ADC Harjinder Singh motivated the students and Sportstars to focus on sports for good health and for brighter future and career. ‘National and international SportStar in India get higher posts and top jobs so sports always polish health and career of youngsters and should be made integral part of life ‘said ADC Harjinder Singh while speaking on this occasion.
DEO secondary Dimple Madan while congratulating the winners and champions; thanked all the national SportStar; organising team members; principals; heads; chairmen and members of various committees who had played pivotal role in making the national games as memorable national event.
Deputy DEO Jasvinder Singh Virk said, “Punjab Judo and karate SportStar have created history in Punjab sports by bagging so many medals.”
Jharkhand emerged national champion in football girls’ category. Jharkhand defeated west Bengal by 2-0 in the finals today on the concluding day of the National games. Maharashtra defeated Punjab 2-1 to bag the third place.
In Karate Competitions, Punjab dominated in the national games with total 12 gold medals; six silver and two bronze medals, bagging total twenty medals in boys and girls; both categories bringing pride to the state.
In judo again, Punjab players brought laurels to the state bagging total seven gold medals; three silver medals and three bronze medals; Total thirteen medals to Punjab kitty and again emerging national champion.
In karate (girls) under 19 years category hosts Punjab state emerged as champion as Punjab karate players bagged six gold medals; one silver and two bronze medals; Uttar Pradesh took second position with two gold; one silver and Haryana was on the third spot with one gold medal; one silver, three bronze.
In karate (boys) completion; Punjab again was on top in the country bagging Six gold medals; five silver medals; Delhi took second spot with two gold; three silver and three bronze; Uttar Pradesh was on third spot with two gold medals two silver.
In judo results, under 17 girls Punjab again emerged as champion on the national hook up by grabbing one gold three silver and two bronze medals; Haryana took send spot with two gold medals and one silver; Delhi was on the third spot with two gold medals and two bronze medals.
Judo under 17 girl’s categories; Punjab secured first spot in the country with six gold medals; one bronze; Haryana took second position with two gold; one silver and one bronze medal; Manipur took third spot in the games with three silvers; one bronze medal.
In his message; Education minister Harjot Singh Bains has congratulated the Punjab judo and karate players who had brought laurels to the Punjab state, nationally.’ Our mission is to take Punjab school students on top in the country, in academics and in Culture Sports ‘Said, Bains.
