The Punjab State Food Commission conducted a crucial video conference today with all ADC(D) cum DGRO officials from various districts, focusing on the effective grassroots implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
A key aspect of the discussion was enhancing food nutrition, particularly by improving Anganwadi centers and mid-day meal infrastructure. Emphasis was placed on leveraging support from NRIs, NGOs, and CSR initiatives to strengthen these services.
The meeting was chaired by Shri Bal Mukand Sharma, Chairman of the Punjab State Food Commission, with commission members Vijay Dutt, Preeti Chawla, and Chetan Prakash Dhaliwal in attendance.
During the session, feedback from field officers was reviewed, highlighting areas needing improvement, especially in Anganwadi facilities and nutrition programs. Officials were encouraged to collaborate with external partners to maximize the scheme’s reach and effectiveness.
The primary goal of the meeting was to eliminate any shortcomings in the implementation of NFSA, ensuring that all beneficiaries receive their entitled food security benefits. Officials were urged to develop comprehensive action plans for tangible improvements.
Chairman Shri Bal Mukand Sharma stressed that collective efforts, including collaboration with NRIs, NGOs, and corporate entities, are essential for the scheme’s success, particularly in reaching marginalized communities.
Commission members Vijay Dutt, Preeti Chawla, and Chetan Prakash Dhaliwal reiterated the importance of efficient execution at the ground level, urging officials to work together for effective results.
Additionally, Director General of School Education, Mr. Vinay Biblani, provided valuable recommendations for enhancing infrastructure and services related to NFSA, particularly in education and nutrition.
