Sudhir Rajpal : Haryana ACS Health directs inspections of all MTP and ultrasound centers, warns non-compliant centers of registration cancellation.
Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Sudhir Rajpal, directed health officials to inspect all Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) and Ultrasound Centers across the state. He also instructed that centers failing to comply with the prescribed guidelines should have their registrations revoked.
Holding additional charge of the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department, Rajpal chaired a key meeting with officials from both departments.
He emphasized the importance of strengthened collaboration between the Health and Family Welfare Department and the WCD Department to improve the state’s sex ratio at birth. He urged Anganwadi Workers from the WCD Department and ASHA Workers from the Health Department to work together to ensure timely pregnancy registrations and achieve the desired outcomes.
Sh. Sudhir Rajpal directed the State Drug Controller to strictly monitor the sale of MTP pills, ensuring they are not sold without a prescription from an authorized doctor. He emphasized that strict legal action must be taken against anyone violating this regulation. Additionally, he instructed that Civil Surgeon teams regularly analyze data from MTP Centers and take strict action against any center found with mismatched or inconsistent reports. Furthermore, he mandated that MTP centers submit trimester-wise reports detailing the reasons for abortions to the Civil Surgeons.
Highlighting the need for a coordinated approach to combat female foeticide and safeguard the welfare of every girl child, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal urged the Health and Women & Child Development (WCD) Departments to work together. He directed ASHA and Anganwadi workers to identify families with female children and launch targeted awareness campaigns to prevent female foeticide.
During the meeting, officials informed that the unique ANR number available on the RCH portal is mandatory for accessing ante-natal services in Haryana. The Health Department is also considering a self-registration system for pregnant women on the RCH portal, enabling authorities to monitor their progress throughout pregnancy and take necessary steps to prevent female foeticide.
The meeting was attended by Director General Health Services Dr. Manish Bansal, Director of the Women and Child Development Department Monika Malik, Civil Surgeon Panchkula Dr. Mukta, and other officials.
