Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said that today is the birth anniversary of the great son of Mother India, the hero of the first freedom struggle, Nana Rao Peshwa. Tributes were paid to him at the main function of Bithoor Mahotsav, which is a special occasion.
Describing Bithoor as a spiritual and historical heritage, CM Yogi said the town was like the soul of Kanpur. This is the land where Maharishi Valmiki nurtured Luv-Kush and Nana Rao Peshwa strategized the 1857 revolution.
The Chief Minister attended the concluding session of Bithoor Mahotsav-2025 and garlanded the statue of Nana Rao Peshwa. He distributed loans worth Rs. 5.42 crore to 1,302 beneficiaries under Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan and provided assistance of Rs. 6.35 crore to 127 farmers. He also handed over appointment letters to 329 newly selected Anganwadi workers.
He visited the exhibition of weapons used by freedom fighters and ODOP stalls. He also paid tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia.
CM Yogi said that Bithoor is the place where Rani Lakshmibai had learnt the art of war in her childhood. It was from here that the strategy was made to defeat the British in the 1857 revolution. Referring to the glorious history of Kanpur, he said the city has been an industrial and spiritual hub, which is again being developed as an industrial hub.
He said that the double engine government is taking Kanpur to new heights of development. In Kanpur, schemes like Defence Manufacturing Corridor, Textile Hub and Metro Project are being run. Kanpur is being connected with better air, road and rail connectivity, so that it can again be among the major industrial cities of India.
CM Yogi also lauded the cleaning of river Ganga and the success of Namami Gange project. He said that clean Ganga played a major role in the successful organization of Mahakumbh-2025 in Prayagraj. Now dolphins and other aquatic creatures are again seen in the Ganges.
“It is important to respect India’s culture and history. Those who idolise foreign invaders should change their thinking. He referred to the statement of the President of Indonesia that he was of Indian origin, and said it reflected the greatness of India’s culture and heritage.
Speaker Satish Mahana, Minister Pratibha Shukla, Advisor to the Chief Minister Awanish Awasthi and other public representatives and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
