UP NEWS : The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the new Auditorium, Academic Building and Panchakarma Centre of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Gorakhpur today. He also laid the foundation stone of a new girls hostel. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present on the occasion. The President also released the ‘Formulary’ and ‘SankalpSiddhi Policy Compendium’ of the University and planted saplings under the ‘One Tree, Mother’s Name’ initiative.
In his address, the President said that the University is a symbol of a glorious legacy associated with the tradition of the Gorakhnath Temple. Many diseases can be treated with Panchakarma therapy. He expressed confidence that with the new building and medical facilities, students and teachers will be able to work with more dedication and the citizens will get more benefits.
Emphasizing on the education of girls in particular, the President said that lack of accommodation in higher education is a big challenge, and setting up of girls hostels is a big step in this direction. “Education is the most powerful tool for women’s empowerment.
Appreciating the National Education Policy-2020, he said that private higher educational institutions have an important role to play in it. This university of Gorakhpur is giving a new direction to higher education in the region. Appreciating the contribution of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad and Gorakshpeeth, he said that the example of patriotism set by Maharana Pratap 700 years ago is still an inspiration.
The President hoped that the students would also imbibe the spirit of spirituality and patriotism in their lives and not confine themselves to professional education. This institution is the bearer of the tradition of Digvijaynath and Avaidyanath ji and has made significant achievements in just a few years. This university is now becoming a major center of education and employment in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
He also informed that the medical and ayurvedic colleges and hospitals run by the university are offering both allopathy and ayurveda facilities. A new 1,800-bed hospital is also proposed in the future.
The President said that the institute is moving towards national-international collaborations in areas such as medicine, agricultural research, rural development, entrepreneurship and botany. The progress of Purvanchal will ensure the progress of the state and then the country.
Governor Anandiben Patel said that this land has been the penance place of the Nath sect and this region is now becoming a new center in yoga, health and education. The inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremonies by the President are strong steps towards development and empowerment.
Describing the President as an inspiration of matriarch, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said his life is a symbol of struggle and service. He said that the President interacted with the public at many places during his stay in Uttar Pradesh, which is inspiring in itself.
The Chief Minister highlighted the establishment of the Ministry of AYUSH, recognition of traditional medicine and the importance of Panchakarma system. He said that the University is becoming a centre of learning and research in various fields. He thanked Gallant India for their support in the construction of Girls Hostel, Auditorium and Panchkarma Centre.
Several Ministers of the State Government, Vice Chancellors of the University, Chairman of Gallant India and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
