Uttarakhand: A bike slides into a gorge on the Gangotri Highway, killing two pilgrims

Uttarakhand: When the accident happened, the two—one from Gujarat and the other from Madhya Pradesh—were traveling to Gangotri Dham.

Uttarakhand: On Monday, the Uttarkashi district police reported that two pilgrims perished when their motorcycle plunged into a steep gorge close to Ganganani on the Gangotri National Highway.

They said they both died instantly.

When the accident happened, the two—one from Gujarat and the other from Madhya Pradesh—were traveling to Gangotri Dham. According to them, the two-wheeler went down the road 150 meters and came to rest near the Bhagirathi River’s banks.

The deceased were identified as Kachadia, 26, a native of Surat, Gujarat, and Ashish Mishra, 47, a resident of Parsi Mohalla in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Officials added that locals assisted police and State Disaster Response Force officers in retrieving the dead.
