Noting the growing demand for flowers, Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Monday instructed officials to take concrete steps to promote floriculture across the state. He was reviewing the department’s progress during a meeting at the Punjab Civil Secretariat.
Minister Mohinder highlighted that flowers have become an essential part of almost every event or celebration, and under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, the government is consistently working to strengthen the horticulture sector.
He informed that the state government offers farmers financial assistance of ₹14,000 per acre for flower seed production, along with technical training in floriculture tailored to their needs.
During the review, Horticulture Secretary Basant Garg and Director Horticulture Shailender Kaur briefed the Minister on various farmer welfare initiatives and ongoing departmental projects.
Reaffirming the Mann Government’s commitment, Minister Mohinder said the top priority remains boosting farmers’ incomes, and assured that every possible support will be provided to achieve this target.
