Bihar government to transfer Rs 10,000 to 10 lakh Jeevika Didis by December 14 under CM Women Employment Scheme. Pink Bus driver & conductor training also announced.
The Bihar government is set to transfer Rs 10,000 each to 10 lakh beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Women Employment Scheme, popularly known as the “Jeevika Didi” initiative. Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar confirmed that the funds will be released in phases, with all eligible women expected to receive the payment by December 14, 2025.
Under this flagship scheme, which aims to economically empower rural women, over 14 million women have already received financial assistance. The government has targeted 9.5 lakh women in rural areas and 50,000 women in urban areas in this current phase.
Shravan Kumar emphasized that every eligible Jeevika Didi will benefit under the program, which also seeks to enhance women’s employment opportunities across the state. “The government plans to announce additional women-focused initiatives in the coming months,” he added.
Pink Bus Driver & Conductor Training for Jeevika Didis
In a move to further empower women, the Bihar government is inviting applications from Jeevika Didis who wish to be trained as drivers or conductors for the women-only “Pink Bus” service operated by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC). Interested candidates can apply until December 15, 2025.
Selected candidates will undergo Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) training at the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) centers in Patna and Aurangabad. Upon successful completion, trained women will be appointed on a contract basis to operate Bihar’s 100 pink buses, filling driver and conductor positions.
The minimum educational requirement for the driver role is Class VIII, while candidates aspiring to be conductors must have completed Class X. The initiative will train 200 women, providing them with employment opportunities while promoting safety and empowerment for female passengers.
This latest scheme complements Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s vision to boost employment among women and enhance the social and economic status of rural women through the Jeevika program.
