The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticized the Gujarat BJP government for spending crores of rupees from poor tribal funds on PM Modi’s rally. Saurabh Bharadwaj, Delhi state convenor of AAP, stated that ₹50 crore from the tribal development fund was misused for PM Modi’s program, including ₹2.40 crore spent solely on mobile toilets, possibly fitted with platinum commodes. During the Gujarat elections, PM Modi could not find a school for the shoot and had a fake school and computer lab constructed. AAP has demanded a thorough investigation into the misuse of ₹50 crore from tribal development funds and the recovery of all money.

At a press conference at AAP headquarters, Saurabh Bharadwaj, along with National Media Head Anurag Dhanda, said that the Gujarat BJP government spent ₹2.40 crore on mobile toilets and sanitation alone. Comparing this with allegations about gold commodes at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, they sarcastically noted that it seems platinum commodes were installed at the PM’s program. Crores of rupees continue to be spent on PM Modi’s programs in Gujarat. During the elections, Modi wanted a school for shooting purposes but couldn’t find one. Subsequently, a fake school and computer lab were constructed for the shoot. In a state where tribal welfare and education are already poor, crores are being spent on a single program.

Saurabh Bharadwaj also highlighted the double standards, stating that people debated over the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence costing ₹40–42 crore for 1.5 years, but no one is discussing the crores being spent on the PM’s residence at Central Vista. He criticized the central government for hiding expenditure citing national security, while detailed files on the CM’s residence were made public without any security issues.

Anurag Dhanda added that BJP state governments and the central government consistently work against Dalits, backward communities, and tribals, violating their rights. The latest case in Gujarat shows crores of rupees meant for tribal welfare misused for VIP display. AAP MLA Chhatar Vasava from Dediapada, representing the tribal community, filed an RTI regarding the spending and received shocking responses.

According to Anurag Dhanda, out of ₹50 crore spent on PM Modi’s rally, ₹7 crore went to the pandal, ₹3 crore for the dome, ₹5 crore for the stage, ₹7 crore for buses, and ₹2 crore for tea & snacks. Most of this money came from the tribal welfare fund, which should have been used for tribal development and children’s welfare. The government only provides ₹2,100 per month for children in tribal hostels, while crores were spent on a few VIP programs. If used properly, these funds could have benefitted thousands of tribal children.

Dhanda further stated that BJP has always oppressed Dalits, backward classes, and tribals, misusing their funds for VIP programs. AAP demands a full independent investigation into the misuse of tribal welfare funds, strict action against guilty officials and leaders, and full recovery of misused money.
