Delhi News: Delhi Cabinet Minister Pravesh Verma stated that the recent reduction in additional tariffs imposed by the United States on India is a significant relief for the country’s trade and economy. The minister described the move as “good news” for India, highlighting that it will strengthen the business environment, investment opportunities, and industrial growth.
Strong Central Support for Delhi’s Development
Minister Pravesh Verma emphasized that Delhi, being the national capital, benefits greatly from the Central Government’s schemes and projects. Major initiatives in railways, healthcare, sewage treatment plants (STPs), education, and sports infrastructure are progressing effectively with central assistance.
Political Critique of Former CM Arvind Kejriwal
Verma criticized the earlier administration under former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, stating that repeated protests, strikes, and street sit-ins used to halt governance and delay crucial projects. He noted that many files remained pending, which hampered Delhi’s growth. However, the minister stressed that the situation has now completely changed.
Departments Working at Full Speed
According to Minister Pravesh Verma, all departments in Delhi are now functioning efficiently, and files are being processed without any obstruction. Delhi is progressing rapidly toward becoming a developed city, reflecting the vision of the recent Central Government Budget for a developed India.
Focus on Health, Youth, and Businesses
Pravesh Verma highlighted that the current budget emphasizes healthcare, youth development, and support for businesses. Investments in the biopharma sector will be encouraged, new universities and institutions like AIIMS will be strengthened, and sports facilities will be expanded under the Khelo India Mission.

Central Funding for Delhi
The minister Pravesh Verma stated that Delhi will receive ₹1,348 crore from the Central Government, while projects related to railways will get ₹2,700 crore. Hospitals, including AIIMS, have been allocated nearly ₹5,500 crore, ensuring improved healthcare facilities. Additionally, funding is being provided for STP plants and other essential infrastructure projects, with full cooperation between the Delhi and Central Governments.
Political Experience and Double Engine Advantage
Sharing his political experience, Minister Verma mentioned that during his father’s tenure as Delhi CM, coordination with a Congress-led Central Government was challenging. Today, with the same political ideology at both the Centre and Delhi, development works are being executed swiftly. He noted that the double-engine government has provided direct benefits to Delhi’s citizens, and this advantage is expected to increase in the future.
Pravesh Verma’s comments underline that US tariff reduction, combined with strong central support, will significantly boost Delhi’s trade, infrastructure, and overall economic development.
