Opposition leaders remain silent as Rajasthan owes Punjab ₹1.44 lakh crore in water dues. CM Bhagwant Mann ensures Punjab’s rights fully protected.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State Media In-charge and General Secretary Baltej Pannu has questioned the silence of Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP leaders on the ₹1.44 lakh crore Punjab water dues owed by Rajasthan under the 1920 water agreement. According to Baltej Pannu, decades of mismanagement and betrayal by traditional parties left Punjab deprived of its rightful water share, and today, these parties have no answers.
Speaking to the media, Baltej Pannu said, “Since Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann presented evidence showing that Rajasthan owes Punjab ₹1.44 lakh crore in water dues, leaders of Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP, who ruled Punjab for 70 years, have remained silent. The people of Punjab deserve clarity on these historic Punjab water dues.”
Targeting BJP Punjab President Sunil Jakhar, he added, “Those leaders who once held power in Congress and now sit with you in BJP helped divert Punjab’s water to other states. Why are you silent on these betrayals today? The citizens understand the meaning of your silence very well.”

Baltej Pannu highlighted the achievements of the Bhagwant Mann government in reviving Punjab’s water system. “In just four years, the Mann government has revived canals and distributaries abandoned by previous regimes. Canal water reaching fields has surged from 22% to 78%. The restoration of the buried Lambi Canal is a prime example of this progress,” he said.
He further stressed that opposition parties are unsettled by the ongoing developments because their past betrayals and conspiracies are now exposed. “Those who exploited Punjab for 70 years, selling its rights and neglecting its people, are now facing the truth. Every penny and every right of Punjab will remain protected under CM Bhagwant Singh Mann,” Baltej Pannu concluded.
The AAP leadership reaffirmed that addressing the Punjab water dues remains a top priority for the government and that efforts will continue to ensure that Punjab’s rightful water share is fully secured.
