Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma reduces convoy to 5 vehicles, following PM Modi’s fuel saving appeal and promoting government austerity.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation and efficient use of government resources, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has taken a significant step by reducing the size of his official convoy.

During his recent visit to Delhi, the Chief Minister was seen travelling from his Jaipur residence to the airport with only five vehicles in his convoy. This marks a notable shift from the usual protocol arrangements and reflects a growing emphasis on austerity and responsible governance.

Convoy Reduced from 13 to 5 Vehicles

Typically, the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s convoy includes between 8 to 13 vehicles, comprising pilot cars, security escorts, a bulletproof vehicle, jammer units, ambulance support, and backup vehicles. However, the Chief Minister has now directed that only essential vehicles be used, minimizing unnecessary additions to the convoy.

Instructions to Chief Secretary and Officials

CM Bhajanlal Sharma has also issued clear directives to the Chief Secretary and other senior officials, instructing them to ensure that government resources are used strictly as per requirement. He emphasized avoiding excessive use of vehicles under the pretext of security and encouraged administrative-level austerity.

Focus on Simplicity and Public Convenience

The Chief Minister further stated that VIP movements should cause minimal inconvenience to the public. As part of this approach, he has instructed officials to streamline traffic arrangements and maintain simplicity during official movements.

The government believes that such measures will not only reduce fuel consumption but also help in cutting down unnecessary administrative expenses, ensuring better utilization of public resources.
