Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chairperson of the Mission Steering Group (MSG), Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, chaired the 3rd meeting of the Mission Steering Group to review the progress of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and discuss the future roadmap for strengthening India’s digital healthcare ecosystem.
The meeting, held in the presence of senior government officials, health ministers, and representatives from various departments, focused on expanding digital health services, improving interoperability, and ensuring secure access to healthcare information for citizens.
Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Expands Digital Healthcare Network
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has made significant progress in creating an integrated and citizen-centric digital health infrastructure across the country. During the meeting, the Mission Steering Group reviewed achievements since the previous meeting and discussed measures to further accelerate adoption among healthcare facilities, professionals, and citizens.
Shri Nadda highlighted the important role of digital public infrastructure in improving access to quality healthcare, ensuring continuity of care, and empowering citizens through secure and consent-based access to their health records.
Over 93.95 Crore ABHA Numbers Created Under Digital Health Initiative
The meeting noted the rapid expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which has emerged as one of the world’s largest digital health ecosystems. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, more than 93.95 crore ABHA numbers have been created, with 105 crore health records linked through the platform.

The initiative has also registered 5.33 lakh health facilities and 9.85 lakh healthcare professionals on national digital health registries. Around 2.72 lakh healthcare facilities have adopted ABDM-enabled software, helping improve digital service delivery and healthcare accessibility.
Focus on Strengthening Digital Health Adoption
The Mission Steering Group discussed several steps to enhance the implementation of ABDM across States and Union Territories. These include improving digital health standards, strengthening governance mechanisms, increasing private healthcare participation, and expanding digital healthcare services.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is also being integrated with major government health programmes, including Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, CGHS, ESIC, and Nikshay, to provide seamless healthcare access and better coordination among different health services.
Future Roadmap Includes AI and Advanced Healthcare Technologies

During the meeting, members discussed the future strategy for scaling up digital health adoption by using emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), improving institutional capabilities, and strengthening collaboration with States and Union Territories.
Concluding the meeting, Shri Nadda stated that while a strong digital health infrastructure has been created under ABDM, the next phase will focus on increasing adoption and utilisation across the country.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will continue to play a key role in building an inclusive, secure, and future-ready healthcare ecosystem, supporting India’s vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 through technology-driven healthcare solutions.
