AAP MLA Gopal Italia alleged a paper leak in Gujarat Ayurveda University’s Shalyatantra Part-1 exam and accused the government of failing to stop exam fraud.
A fresh controversy has emerged in Gujarat after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gopal Italia alleged that the Shalyatantra Part-1 examination conducted by Gujarat Ayurveda University was compromised through a new paper leak method. The Visavadar MLA claimed that the incident raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of anti-paper leak measures despite repeated assurances from the central government.
Speaking through a video statement, Italia said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier promised strict action against examination paper leaks, including stronger laws, fast-track courts, and stringent punishment for those responsible. He also referred to recent political developments surrounding the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, stating that the Centre had assured citizens of tougher steps to curb examination-related malpractice.
According to Italia, the latest incident indicates that the problem continues to persist. He alleged that the Gujarat Ayurveda University examination for Shalyatantra Part-1 was compromised, suggesting that there has been little improvement despite repeated commitments to safeguard the integrity of competitive and academic examinations.

The AAP legislator claimed that instead of circulating the complete question paper in advance, a new strategy was allegedly adopted. He said students reportedly received a list of 12 “Important Questions” (IMP) through WhatsApp before the examination. Italia alleged that 11 of those 12 questions eventually appeared in the actual examination, raising questions about how such highly accurate predictions became possible.
Calling the incident a serious matter, Italia questioned whether strict laws alone could eliminate examination fraud if those involved in such activities continued to receive political protection. He argued that unless accountability is ensured at every level, paper leak cases would continue to affect students’ futures.
The MLA further appealed for collective action to protect the interests of young aspirants, saying that the fight against examination irregularities is far from over. He stressed that students deserve transparent and fair examinations and urged authorities to investigate the alleged incident thoroughly.
The Gujarat government and Gujarat Ayurveda University had not issued any official response to the allegations at the time of writing. An independent verification of the claims regarding the alleged WhatsApp messages and examination questions has also not yet been made public.
The controversy has once again brought the issue of examination security into focus, with demands for greater transparency, stronger monitoring mechanisms, and swift action if any irregularities are confirmed.
