CM Yogi Adityanath launched ₹692 crore projects in Ghazipur and criticised the SP and Congress, accusing them of creating an identity crisis.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Ghazipur on Thursday, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 268 public welfare and infrastructure projects worth approximately ₹692 crore. Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s focus on regional development while sharply criticising the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress over their past governance.

CM Alleges Previous Governments Created an Identity Crisis

During his speech, Yogi Adityanath said Ghazipur is the birthplace of several distinguished personalities, including Mahavir Chakra awardee Martyr Ram Ugra Pandey, noted Hindi essayist Kubernath Rai, and renowned writer Gopalram Gahmari.

He questioned why a district with such a rich historical and cultural legacy had, in his view, developed an “identity crisis.” The Chief Minister alleged that previous governments led by the Samajwadi Party and the Congress failed to promote the district’s heritage and instead allowed its image to deteriorate.

Remarks on National Heroes and Historical Legacy

The Chief Minister also spoke about recognising national heroes, saying the BJP-led government has worked to honour historical figures who contributed to India’s defence and cultural heritage.

Referring to Maharaja Suheldev, Yogi said the ruler played a significant role in resisting foreign invasions and deserved greater national recognition. He alleged that previous governments did not adequately honour Maharaja Suheldev and instead promoted events associated with historical invader Ghazi Salar Masud.

Highlights Government Initiatives

Yogi Adityanath said the current government has taken several steps to commemorate Maharaja Suheldev, including:

• Installation of a grand statue and memorial in Bahraich.
• Organisation of fairs dedicated to Maharaja Suheldev.
• Establishment of a medical college in Bahraich in his name.
• Naming a university in Azamgarh after Maharaja Suheldev.

According to the Chief Minister, these initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to recognising personalities who contributed to the country’s history and heritage.

Focus on Development and Heritage

Alongside the political remarks, the Chief Minister emphasised that the newly launched development projects are aimed at improving public infrastructure, strengthening civic amenities and accelerating economic growth in Ghazipur.

The ₹692 crore package includes multiple public welfare initiatives intended to enhance connectivity, public services and overall development in the district, reinforcing the government’s broader development agenda in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
