The Haryana government has announced a significant change in the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, aimed at bringing more women under the financial assistance scheme. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has clarified that women who are already receiving benefits from other government schemes will not lose those benefits after registering for the Lado Lakshmi scheme.

The clarification comes amid reports of confusion among women regarding whether joining the scheme could affect their existing pension or other government assistance.

Existing Pension and Benefits Will Continue

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that women benefiting from the Lado Lakshmi Yojana will not be deprived of other eligible government schemes. Their pension and other government facilities will continue according to the existing rules.

The Chief Minister also dismissed concerns that registration under the scheme would automatically stop benefits being received through other welfare programmes.

According to the government, there will be no reduction in eligible benefits merely because a woman registers for the Lado Lakshmi scheme.

Income Eligibility Limit Increased

One of the major changes announced by the Haryana government concerns the annual family income limit. Earlier, the maximum annual family income for eligibility was fixed at Rs 1 lakh.

This limit is now being increased to Rs 1.80 lakh, potentially allowing more women and families to qualify for the Lado Lakshmi Yojana.

A new registration portal is expected to be launched soon to facilitate applications under the revised eligibility criteria.

Eligible Women Receive Rs 2,100 Every Month

Under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, eligible women receive financial assistance of Rs 2,100 per month. The scheme has been introduced with the objective of providing economic support to women and helping them move towards greater financial independence.

The Haryana government had initially allocated Rs 5,000 crore for the scheme in its budget. According to the information shared by the government, around 10 lakh women have so far received more than Rs 2,000 crore in their bank accounts.

Rs 6,500 Crore Allocated in the Second Budget

The government has increased its financial commitment towards the scheme in the second budget, with Rs 6,500 crore allocated for the Lado Lakshmi Yojana.

With the income eligibility limit being expanded, the scheme is expected to cover a larger number of women. The upcoming registration portal will provide eligible applicants with an opportunity to apply under the revised criteria.
