The Bikram Singh Majithia case takes a new turn as Baltej Pannu claims Punjab Vigilance filed a 40,000-page chargesheet detailing a ₹736.96 crore financial trail.
The Bikram Singh Majithia case has drawn fresh political attention after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab media in-charge Baltej Pannu claimed that the Punjab Vigilance Bureau had submitted a 40,000-page chargesheet against the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader. According to Pannu, the investigation has identified a financial trail worth ₹736.96 crore, including alleged benami assets and suspicious transactions.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Pannu described the development as a major step by the Bhagwant Mann-led government against corruption and the drug trade. However, the allegations remain subject to judicial scrutiny, and the court will determine the facts and legal responsibility in the case.
What Is the Bikram Singh Majithia Case About?
According to Pannu, the case stems from FIR No. 22, registered on June 25, 2025, by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau’s Flying Squad in Mohali. He said the case involves provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, including Sections 13(1)(e) and 13(2), along with Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code.
The investigation reportedly examines alleged accumulation of assets disproportionate to known sources of income between March 2, 2007, and March 31, 2017, a period that coincided with the Akali-BJP government’s tenure in Punjab.
Pannu claimed that investigators had identified alleged benami assets and unaccounted wealth valued at ₹719.72 crore. He further stated that the overall financial transactions and money trail under investigation amounted to ₹736.96 crore.
Punjab Vigilance Investigation Points to Alleged Asset Growth
While discussing the investigation, Pannu alleged that Majithia’s assets had increased substantially during the period under scrutiny. He referred to an initial assessment involving assets worth ₹40.78 crore and a reported increase of 1,200.13 per cent.
He also cited figures relating to the alleged growth in benami properties, claiming that their value eventually reached ₹719.72 crore, representing an increase of 1,495.37 per cent according to the figures presented at the press conference.
These figures form part of the allegations outlined by the AAP representative. The underlying evidence, calculations and explanations offered by the accused will need to be considered through the legal process.
Shell Companies and Suspicious Transactions Under Scrutiny
Pannu alleged that investigators had examined a network of companies suspected of being used to route funds and conceal the origins of money. The businesses he named included Saraiya Industries Private Limited, Peregrine Sarloa Organic Private Limited, S.D. Beverages Private Limited, A to Z Transport, A.D. Enterprises, United Wines, Akash Spirits Private Limited and Nawanshahr Power Private Limited, among others.
According to Pannu, the investigation examined transactions involving these entities, including their financial dealings, business activities and links within the alleged money trail.
He claimed that the companies were connected to suspected financial irregularities involving the liquor trade and transport operations. These assertions were made by the AAP media in-charge, and their legal validity will depend on the evidence considered by the court.
₹736.96 Crore Financial Trail: Key Figures Cited by AAP
Providing details of the alleged financial transactions, Pannu highlighted several amounts that he said had emerged during the investigation.
The figures cited at the press conference included:
₹170.39 crore: Cash deposits allegedly made into Saraiya Industries’ bank accounts during 2007–08 and 2008–09.
₹176.56 crore: An alleged financial benefit received by Saraiya Industries from foreign companies.
₹127.90 crore: Surplus funds reportedly received during 2012–13 and 2013–14.
₹16.68 crore: An alleged financial benefit linked to the Nawanshahr Power Private Limited syndicate group.
₹194.62 crore: An unexplained increase reportedly identified in Sarloa Industries.
₹50.81 crore: Funds described by Pannu as unaccounted for.
Pannu said these figures formed part of the broader financial trail of ₹736.96 crore being examined by investigators. The precise nature of each transaction and its evidentiary significance will be assessed during the proceedings.
Supplementary Chargesheets and Other Individuals Named
Pannu stated that a supplementary chargesheet was filed on January 27, 2026, following the arrest of co-accused Harpreet Singh Gulati. He also referred to an earlier supplementary chargesheet submitted on November 1, 2025.
According to Pannu, the investigation subsequently brought the name of Gajpat Singh Grewal, described by him as Majithia’s brother-in-law, into the case. He said Grewal was named under Section 120-B in connection with the alleged criminal conspiracy.
Pannu also referred to previous developments involving the drug-related cases associated with Jagdish Bhola and former Enforcement Directorate officer Niranjan Singh. He alleged that earlier investigative efforts had faced interference. These claims were part of his political statement and should be distinguished from findings established by a court.
The AAP representative further alleged that two individuals identified as Satpreet Singh, also known as Satta, and Parminder Singh, also known as Pindi, were residing in Canada. He said the Punjab government was pressing the Centre to pursue their return under the applicable extradition framework.
AAP Rejects Political Vendetta Allegations
Responding to claims that the investigation was politically motivated, Pannu argued that the size of the chargesheet and the number of witness statements warranted a detailed examination of the evidence.
He referred to approximately 300 witness statements and said the documents submitted by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau would help establish the facts during court proceedings.
Pannu also criticised the political relationship between the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal, alleging that their positions on drug-related issues raised questions about their commitment to tackling the problem in Punjab.
The comments reflect the AAP’s political position on the case. The allegations against Majithia and other individuals must ultimately be assessed on the basis of admissible evidence and the court’s findings.
Bhagwant Mann Government Reaffirms Anti-Corruption Stand
Pannu said the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, remained committed to tackling corruption and drug trafficking. He maintained that the Punjab Vigilance Bureau had completed an important stage of its investigation by submitting the chargesheet.
He added that the next stage would involve judicial scrutiny of the evidence, financial records and witness statements presented in the case.
The Bikram Singh Majithia case is now at a significant stage, with the alleged ₹736.96 crore financial trail and the extensive chargesheet likely to remain central to the proceedings. The Bikram Singh Majithia case has also intensified political exchanges in Punjab, particularly over allegations of corruption and links to the drug trade.
The final outcome will depend on the court’s assessment of the evidence. The Bikram Singh Majithia case should therefore be viewed in the context of the allegations and ongoing legal process, rather than treating the claims as proven facts before a judicial determination.
