Delhi will ban non-BS6 vehicles from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Check allowed and banned vehicles, PUCC rules and exemptions.
Delhi non-BS6 vehicle ban: Motorists travelling to Delhi from Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad will have to follow stricter vehicle entry rules from November 1, 2026. As part of its winter air-pollution control measures, the Delhi government will prohibit the entry of non-Delhi-registered vehicles that do not meet BS6 emission standards.
The restrictions will remain in force from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. The move aims to reduce vehicular emissions during the winter months, when air quality across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) generally deteriorates.
The Delhi non-BS6 vehicle ban will affect private vehicles as well as certain interstate buses and goods vehicles. However, BS6-compliant vehicles, CNG vehicles and electric vehicles will be allowed, subject to the prescribed conditions.
Delhi Vehicle Entry Rules From November 1: Which Vehicles Are Allowed?
According to a notification issued by the Delhi Government’s Environment Department on June 23, 2026, vehicles entering the capital during the restriction period must comply with the applicable emission standards.
The following categories of vehicles will be permitted to enter and operate in Delhi, subject to the prescribed rules:
BS6-compliant vehicles: Vehicles meeting BS6 emission standards will be allowed.
CNG vehicles: CNG-powered vehicles will be permitted.
Electric vehicles: Electric vehicles will be allowed to enter Delhi.
Exempted vehicles: Vehicles specifically exempted under the government notification will also be permitted.
Motorists should ensure that their vehicles meet the applicable requirements before travelling to the capital.
Which Vehicles Will Be Banned From Entering Delhi?
Under the Delhi non-BS6 vehicle ban, vehicles that do not meet BS6 emission standards will not be permitted to enter the national capital during the restriction period.
The restrictions will also cover buses arriving from other states that do not comply with BS-VI emission norms. This means that diesel buses below the prescribed standard will continue to be barred from entering Delhi.
Tractors and locally assembled vehicles commonly known as ‘jugaad’ vehicles will also not be allowed to enter Delhi where the notification applies.
Valid PUCC Certificate Is Mandatory
Meeting BS6 emission standards alone will not be sufficient for motorists. Even vehicles that comply with BS6 norms must carry a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC).
Vehicles without a valid PUCC will not be allowed to enter Delhi, as per the stated requirements. Commuters should therefore check their certificate’s validity before starting their journey.

Rules for Interstate Buses and Trucks
The restrictions will also affect public transport and goods vehicles travelling from neighbouring states.
Diesel buses arriving from other states that do not meet BS6 emission standards will remain prohibited from entering Delhi.
Meanwhile, trucks and other goods vehicles that are passing through Delhi but do not have the capital as their destination will be required to take alternative routes. Such vehicles must use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE) or other designated routes instead of entering the city.
These arrangements are intended to reduce unnecessary heavy-vehicle movement within Delhi during the winter pollution-control period.
How Long Will the Delhi Vehicle Ban Remain in Force?
The Delhi non-BS6 vehicle ban will be implemented for three months, beginning November 1, 2026, and continuing until January 31, 2027.
The restrictions are part of the capital’s winter pollution-control strategy. Vehicle emissions are among the sources of air pollution, and limiting the entry of vehicles that do not meet the required emission standards is intended to help control pollution levels.
What Should Commuters From Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad Know?
People travelling regularly to Delhi from Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad should check their vehicle’s emission category before November 1. Owners of non-BS6 vehicles should be particularly careful, as their vehicles may not be permitted to enter the capital during the restriction period.
Commuters should also ensure that they have a valid PUCC certificate. Those travelling in buses or goods vehicles should check the applicable interstate vehicle rules and designated routes.
With the Delhi non-BS6 vehicle ban coming into effect on November 1, motorists will need to plan their journeys according to the new requirements. The restrictions will continue until January 31, 2027, as part of the government’s efforts to tackle winter air pollution in the national capital.
