Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated a newly constructed 5-storey government girls’ school in Malerkotla, describing the facility as a special gift for daughters on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day. The project has been completed at a cost of ₹6.34 crore, while also saving ₹5.25 lakh from the government exchequer.
The Malerkotla government girls’ school is aimed at providing students with better educational infrastructure and a modern learning environment.
₹6.34 Crore Project Completed With Savings
Speaking about the new facility, CM Bhagwant Mann said the Malerkotla government girls’ school was completed at a cost of ₹6.34 crore. The project was completed efficiently, resulting in savings of ₹5.25 lakh in public funds.
Mann said providing quality infrastructure for girls is an important part of the Punjab government’s efforts to strengthen education and encourage students to continue their studies.
Special Gift for Girls on Independence Day
The Chief Minister described the newly inaugurated Malerkotla government girls’ school as a special gift for daughters on the 80th Independence Day.
He said the government wants girls to have access to better educational opportunities and facilities so that financial or infrastructure-related difficulties do not interrupt their education.
Punjab’s Education Performance Highlighted
Bhagwant Mann also highlighted the progress claimed by the Punjab government in the field of school education. He said Punjab has achieved the top position nationally in school education as a result of continued efforts to improve the education system.
The Chief Minister pointed to the performance of students from government schools in competitive examinations as an example of this progress.
According to Mann, 882 students from government schools cleared NEET, while 361 students qualified for JEE. He said these results demonstrate the potential of students studying in government institutions.

Special Bus Service for More Than 15,000 Girls
The Punjab government is also providing dedicated transportation support to help girls continue their education.
Mann said more than 15,000 female students are being provided special bus services. The initiative is intended to make commuting easier and ensure that transportation challenges do not force students to discontinue their studies.
The Chief Minister said the government is working to create an environment where daughters can pursue education without unnecessary barriers.
Focus on Better Government School Infrastructure
The inauguration of the Malerkotla government girls’ school is part of the broader focus on improving infrastructure in government educational institutions.
