CM Bhajan Lal Sharma directed the departmental officers to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to the general public as per the action plan for drinking water management during summer season and summer contingency plan.He directed to complete the contingency works related to drinking water in the districts on time on the recommendation of the District Collectors.He directed the PHED officials in urban and rural areas to remain in the field to maintain water supply arrangements.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma was chairing a review meeting of the Public Health Engineering Department at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday.He asked the officials to install new tube wells and hand pumps to keep the drinking water system smooth during the summer season.Besides, arrangements should be made to transport water through tankers to strengthen drinking water supply, he added.He directed the departmental officers to complete the repair works of pipelines, old tube wells and hand pumps related to drinking water on time.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that to solve the drinking water problem, the numbers of the state and district level control rooms should be widely publicized and the complaints coming on these numbers should be resolved quickly by effective monitoring.Further, it was advised to start power connections for tube wells and tubewells soon and arrange for spare pump-motors in the reserves.He also asked the officials to form two Jal Mitras for drinking water related schemes in every village so that their support could be taken as per requirement.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma directed the departmental officers to complete the remaining works of the budget announcements related to drinking water soon.Also, financial sanction for drinking water works for the coming year 2025-26 should be obtained and works should be taken up.He also directed the officials to repair the roads broken during the laying of pipelines in rural areas and complete the works of AMRUT scheme in the stipulated time frame.
Instructing the officials to ensure full filling of the Diggis to maintain the drinking water system in the affected districts during the canal blockade, the Chief Minister asked the officials to utilise this water whenever required.
Public Health Engineering Minister Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary and senior officials of the department were present in the meeting.
