CM Vishnu Deo Sai : Chhattisgarh has secured investment proposals worth ₹3,01,086 crore in the energy sector through the ‘Chhattisgarh Energy Investors Summit 2025.’ These investments, under various state government initiatives, aim to enhance energy infrastructure, covering nuclear, thermal, solar, and pumped storage power projects. The objective is to provide industries and the public with affordable and uninterrupted electricity.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that these investments will significantly boost the state’s power generation capacity, positioning Chhattisgarh as a key energy hub while promoting sustainability and renewable energy.
The thermal power sector has attracted investments totaling ₹1,07,840 crore, with private companies contributing ₹66,720 crore. Adani Power leads with major projects, including ₹18,000 crore for the Korba 1600MW plant, ₹15,000 crore each for the Raigarh and Raipur 1600MW plants, and ₹620 crore for a 1320MW plant in Korba. Jindal Power is investing ₹12,800 crore in a 1600MW plant in Raigarh, while Sarda has committed ₹5,300 crore for a 660MW plant in the same region.
Public sector undertakings (PSUs) are set to invest ₹41,120 crore. NTPC has earmarked ₹15,530 crore for the Lara 1600MW project in Raigarh and ₹9,790 crore for the Sipat 800MW plant in Bilaspur, while CSPGCL will invest ₹15,800 crore in the Korba 1320MW project.
In a major development, NTPC plans to establish a 4200MW nuclear power project with an investment of ₹80,000 crore, marking Chhattisgarh’s entry into nuclear energy.
The state is also making strides in solar energy. Jindal Power and NTPC Green will generate 2500MW of solar power with an investment of ₹10,000 crore, including 500MW plants in Doleshra and 2000MW in Raigarh.
Farmers will benefit from the PM Kusum Yojana, which will generate 675MW of solar power at a cost of ₹4,100 crore and install 20,000 solar pumps, reducing reliance on diesel for irrigation.
Pumped storage projects worth ₹57,046 crore will enhance hydropower capacity, featuring an 1800MW project in Kotpali, a 1400MW scheme in Dangri, and a 3000MW project by Jindal Renewable.
Additional investments include ₹3,200 crore for CREDA Solar Initiatives, ₹6,000 crore for the PM Surya Scheme, ₹2,500 crore for solar projects in government buildings, ₹2,600 crore for Battery Energy Storage Systems, ₹17,000 crore for power transmission upgrades, and ₹10,800 crore under the RDSS for improving power distribution efficiency.
With these large-scale investments, Chhattisgarh is poised to become a leading energy-producing state, benefiting industries, farmers, and citizens while driving economic growth.
