Delhi CM Rekha Gupta launches ₹250 crore civic projects in Shalimar Bagh, unveils development report, and highlights future infrastructure plans including roads, parks, hospitals, and metro upgrades.
In a significant move marking the first anniversary of the BJP-led government in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated multiple civic infrastructure projects in her Shalimar Bagh assembly constituency on Sunday. The CM also unveiled a detailed 32-page report highlighting the developmental initiatives undertaken in the area over the past year, amounting to ₹250 crore.
The event, held at the District Park in Pitampura, saw CM Rekha Gupta addressing local residents and emphasizing her commitment to improving public amenities, roads, and overall infrastructure in Shalimar Bagh. “Over the past year, we have ensured that development reaches every lane and neighborhood. These streets, markets, and communities shaped my childhood, and serving this area is a responsibility I cherish,” she said.

Major Projects and Infrastructure Upgrades
The CM Rekha Gupta highlighted completed and ongoing works in the constituency, which include the redevelopment of District Park with new entry gates, fountains, public toilets, footpaths, and other civic amenities aimed at enhancing residents’ daily lives.
Future projects were also outlined, such as:

An elevated road along the Munak Canal

Canal-side beautification and development of Chhath ghats

Construction of a modern auditorium, model schools, and community halls

Expansion of the Ayurvedic hospital and upgraded mother-and-child care centers

New sports facilities, cycling tracks, and walking paths
Additionally, the report mentions large-scale improvements including road relaying, drainage upgrades, street lighting enhancements, metro station renaming and connectivity upgrades, widening and strengthening key roads, and the installation of 11,000 KV underground power lines. Urban renewal efforts in villages and colonies, encroachment removal, green development, CCTV installation, and park rejuvenation were also highlighted.
Strengthening Infrastructure Through Coordination
CM Rekha Gupta credited the Central Government for its support, particularly in accelerating flyover construction, metro expansion, road networks, and the deployment of electric buses. “The cooperation between the Delhi government and the Centre has been crucial in delivering timely infrastructure development,” she said.
With these initiatives, the Delhi government aims to provide modern, sustainable, and citizen-friendly infrastructure across Shalimar Bagh, setting a benchmark for urban development in the Capital.
