Dr Baljit Kaur targets Congress over the genocide of Punjab’s warrior lineage, calls for justice, women empowerment, and political accountability in Punjab.
In a powerful statement today, Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur criticized the Congress party for its historical role in the alleged genocide of Punjab’s warrior lineage and called for accountability and justice for affected communities.
Dr Baljit Kaur’s remarks came in response to recent misogynistic comments targeting women in Punjab. She questioned the underlying assumptions that a woman’s value is determined by giving birth to warriors or that only affluent families can produce brave fighters.
“Are the women who celebrate with meager earnings incapable of nurturing warriors? Does a woman hold value only if she bears a warrior?” asked Dr. Kaur. “History shows that the genocide and rivalries created by certain political entities harmed generations of brave men and women. Congress must now confront this legacy and take responsibility.”

Highlighting her continued fight for justice, Dr Baljit Kaur stated that the struggle will persist until accountability measures are taken, including revocation of the MLA membership of individuals like Sukhpal Khaira, whom she accused of undermining Punjab’s historical warrior community.
Dr. Kaur emphasized the need for the Congress to “turn the page under its generation’s pain” and adopt policies that honor the sacrifices and lineage of Punjab’s women and warriors. She urged all citizens to stand united in defending democratic rights and opposing discriminatory or misogynistic narratives.
Political analysts note that Dr Baljit Kaur’s statement has ignited significant discussion in Punjab, highlighting historical grievances and sparking renewed debate about women’s empowerment, political accountability, and recognition of Punjab’s cultural heritage.
The minister concluded her statement by calling upon all parties to prioritize the voices of the people, protect the rights of farmers, women, and marginalized communities, and ensure that historical injustices are not repeated.
