Farooq Abdullah: In response to PM Modi's "mangalsutra" statements in Rajasthan, Farooq Abdullah says: "Our Allah and Islam..."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “mangalsutra” statements in Banswara, Rajasthan, were denounced by Farooq Abdullah.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent “mangalsutra” remarks in Banswara, Rajasthan, were denounced on Tuesday by National Conference member Farooq Abdullah, who asserted that Islam and Allah “teach us to walk together with everyone.”

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election, PM Narendra Modi made the following accusations at a rally in Banswara: “If the Congress won, they would give the people’s wealth to Muslims.” He cited former prime minister Manmohan Singh’s assertion that the minority community had the right to the nation’s resources. Modi further claimed that the Congress intended to reward “those who have more children” and “infiltrators” with the hard-earned cash and assets of the people, including mangalsutra.

Farooq Abdullah, the president of the J&K National Conference, expressed regret over the prime minister’s remarks, saying, “Our Islam and Allah teach us to walk together with everyone.” We have always been taught to respect different religions rather than to despise them by our religion.A person is not a Muslim and does not comprehend Islam if they steal the “mangalsutra.”

The Congress has also reacted sharply to Modi’s remarks, with former finance minister P Chidambaram claiming that “after April 21, the level of debate has sunk to a new low.”

“I don’t think any previous prime minister has ever said anything as ludicrous as PM Modi did yesterday at Jalore and Banswara, Rajasthan. P Chidambaram commented on X that “each sentence outdid the previous one in its blatant mendacity and absolute falsehood.”

Along with accusations against the Congress over purported announcements to divide land and other assets among Muslims, the top Congress leader questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“Will the BJP reveal to the world: a) the exact time and location at which the Congress said that Muslims would receive land, gold, and other valuables? b) When and where did the Congress announce that a survey would be carried out to assess the value of personal property, including women’s gold and tribal families’ silver? c) When and when did Congress declare that government employees’ money and land will likewise be distributed?” stated P Chidambaram in the post.

Meanwhile, Modi reaffirmed on Tuesday that he had told the nation the truth—that Congress was planning a grand scheme to steal your property and give it to its chosen few.

Speaking at a public gathering in Tonk, Rajasthan, Modi said that his speech had sent shivers down the spine of the entire Congress and INDIA coalition.

“In my 90-second address the day before yesterday, I had brought several truths to Rajasthan’s attention. Panic has spread within the Congress and INDI alliance as a result of this. I had told the nation the truth—that Congress is hatched a grand scheme to seize your property and give it to its chosen few. I revealed their politics of appeasement and vote-bank tactics. In the end, why does Congress fear the truth so much?” Modi stated.

Asaduddin Owai, the head of AIMIM, strongly objected to Modi’s characterization of Muslims in a speech on Monday.

Speaking at a Bihar election rally, Owaisi declared that he would like to perform a “post mortem” analysis of Modi’s Rajasthan speech.

Muslims, according to Modi, have more children. It is untrue. The community’s fertility rate has decreased, and official statistics show that it is at 2.36 percent. Owaisi said at the Purnea district rally, “Though, admittedly, the fertility rate is lower among our Hindu brethren.”

Owaisi claimed that the prime minister’s statements at the Banswara gathering were “divisive” and that he “told a lie, as he has always done.”
