Government of Punjab: In light of the bye election to the 34-Jalandhar West (SC) Assembly Constituency on July 10, 2024 (Wednesday), the Punjab government has declared a local holiday, including under the Negotiable Instruments Act-1881, for government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions located in the 34-Jalandhar West (SC) Assembly Constituency on July 10, 2024.
If a government officer or employee is on the voter list for the 34-Jalandhar West (SC) Assembly Constituency and works for a government office, board, corporation, or government educational institution in the state of Punjab, they can request a special holiday from the appropriate authority on July 10, 2024, by presenting their voter identity card. This holiday will not be subtracted from the officer’s or employee’s leave balance.
In addition, July 10, 2024 (a Wednesday) is hereby declared a paid holiday for all individuals employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking, or other establishment for the purpose of casting votes in the Jalandhar West (SC) Assembly Constituency, in accordance with Section 135B(1) of the Representation of People Act, 1951.
